Girl Gamer Explains: Why Crucible loot drops are RNG
Before I get started, I want to be clear that I'm NOT directly endorsing the design of PvP loot rewards, merely providing what I think is Bungie's logic and because it is CLEARLY a mechanic that's still bothering people. I honestly think they have PvP gear rewards totally random as a bit of a social experiment because what it does do (aside from piss people the -blam!- off) is:
1. Reward anyone, [i]regardless[/i] of skill level, for trying out PvP. Carrot meet stick...*nom nom nom*.
2. Attempt to eliminate tryhard multiplayer arguing over kill steals, KD reps, and all that dumb internet epeen measuring.
3. Attempts to make the[i] focus[/i] of the [i]gameplay[/i] the most interesting thing about the experience. Not just a [u]means to a reward.[/u]
This is why the dude that went 2 / 25 will get a shiny Exotic despite your dominant 30 / 10 massacre. Winning is rewarded via Marks and Rep, NOT loot drops in the current system.

6 RepliesAll of the points you've made are already well-understood by the broader gamer community that exists beyond the forum hyperbole crowd. It's not any sort of ground-breaking new insight. What *would* be a ground-breaking new insight? The self-awareness to realize that trolling a forum with blatant gender-exploiting for the hits and attention only makes it that much harder for the rest of us. What does the fact that we have to sit down to pee have anything to do with our opinion? And what possible reason could you have for deliberately fixating attention to it, other than the attention itself? Please sincerely reflect on the true motive of your actions, and consider their repercussions beyond yourself.

You seem sell versed in internet. Putting "Girl Gamer" in the title seems like clickbait for trolls. Not sure why you're upset about attracting them... I agree with your points but disagree with your femininity being relevant. I'm don't know why people complain about random exotic drops in PvP. They make me chuckle (I have a picture of someone in the bottom getting a ballerhorn). I'm no crucible beast, but if you're good you don't need exotics in the crucible. You can also (legitimately) earn some of the best crucible weapons without relying on RNGsus. Vanquisher, the newly buffed thorn, invective is still a beast and iron banner gives people a chance to create some trluy awesome crucible weaponry.

The concept of rewarding any player randomly is just fine. The problem is that the rate drop is minimal. I have about 4 days in the crucible and have only seen handfull of exotic drops. And have only been rewarded once a gjally -blam!- yeah. Could not -blam!-ing believe it, and on the other team a guy got the truth talk about bad luck

2 RepliesWinning is absolutely not rewarded enough. It has never been. Yes, everyone should be going into pvp in good knowledge that they are entering into an entirely rng based reward system. That said it doesn't mean that competitiveness somehow DETRACTS from a multiplayer community. A balanced pvp system would be the optimal way to ensure a solid player interaction. This system allows you to feel awful until randomly you feel less shit on for playing a crucible game.

Also keeps those not so skilled players grinding in the crucible. Keeps the gamer hours up and inflated for investers. If only the elite are rewarded it puts the future of destiny at risk.

Its a pretty simple concept. Play earn purchase. You play you get marks you can purchase equipment, but the random purple engrams is also vangaurd or crucible gear so it negates even playing pvp. But if you played strikes and pvp you could buy gear so you could be level ready. In regards to pvp rng it is still unfair despite being random. You shouldn't get a exotic unless you did something to earn it, not just be there. Top player can get nothing but bottom three holding back team get stuff is far from fair. Competitive play is just that; Competitive. Performance matters. If performance is being punish then what is the point. Yeah I can play pvp but what is there to keep me playing. Earning marks should be strictly earning marks. Getting exotics or gear defeats the purpose of earning marks. Hell you dont even need proper level weapons to do well.

They threw the gameplay focus out the window the second they added rewards and bounties. Making the rewards RNG has no impact on this.

I agree. This is what I've been saying in those "worst players get best rewards," threads. The drops in the "activity complete" screen are bonuses, not the main reason for playing in the crucible.
