On Community Feedback

Hey, there. I'd like to see if we can create a sense of understanding about something. I see a lot of threads on this forum that say things like "Please read this, DEEJ!" or "I hope Bungie sees this!" We read all of this feedback. More people than you would suspect look in on the forum here and in places all over the Internet where players talk about Destiny. We take it in. We measure it against data we have on our end. We triage it against our own wish lists. We plan our work based on the people we have on our team and the hours we have in any given work day. We choose our battles on the development floor the same way you do when you look at your Director. "What can I accomplish next to get better?" is the essential question. There is a process in place to support Destiny. You, constant reader, are a part of that process. Your voice is, by my proxy, a part of the conversation - even when it makes the meeting to which I've been invited a little contentious. I do not post in every thread that appears on this forum because I don't assume you'll settle for being placated with a stock "We hear you!" every time one of you has a good idea. The promise I can make is that I am working with the developers to make sure that they understand how you feel as they go about making their decisions. Now, there will be times when I focus on the positive. There are people in this community who deserve an introduction to happy gamers who are doing amazing things to provide a service to their fellow Guardians. Those people deserve their due credit. This does not mean that I'm dodging your feedback. It means that I'm attempting to see our community from every angle - to give everyone a voice. This may have been ill-advised, but it's something I wanted to say. Hopefully it doesn't blow up in my face, because I actually do like talking to you on the forum. I respect the people who take the time to express their honest opinions on this and other forums. I would compel you not to stop. That is all. For now.

Just more damage control following false hope. "We're planning things so something happens at some point, don't worry you're gonna love it. Keep the faith, sit tight, and game on!" Yeah yeah, but at what point do the words become action? Empty promises don't sit well for a child whose parents promise them ice cream every day for doing their homework and never get it, nor do they sit well for a community who continues to be mislead and ripped off.

  • I was listening to the Guardians of D podcast yesterday morning, when they made a comment that made me grateful for Bungie. Destiny is a liitle more than a month old, and already Bungie has made three (3) fixes to their game. Then, realizing they over-corrected a problem, vowed to fix the V-M. What other developer has done that? By the way, I'm not a fanboy. This is my first Bungie game.

  • It is now very obvious that it is a tidal wave forming at Bungie's front door. The fortune's (or misfortune's) of the Franchise will depend on the content of the much awaited December's DLC. Ball is in your court Bungie, a tsunami is coming....

  • I played the Alpha and Beta and while I know the kinks needed to be fixed back in the test phases, it was fun. I want to say the reason we all are upset is that the lack of content for the game is really slowly trickling out. Ok, you have a Raid. Well the Vault has lost the luster. I say this because the RNG for a Tier base gear system is NOT going to work. I was shocked you don't have a token system for Raid gear. For each boss you have a chance to have a token drop. Armor could be acquired from your Vanguard class master. Each part could have a set number of tokens to buy. The hard mode drops a larger number of tokens. You could also set up the Raid Weapons from the vender in the tower. As for the Rare drops could still be boss drop based. That would solve this lack of progression due to RNG sucking and tossing me all shards and energy. I'm cool with the drop rate for engrams as it works as intended. I can only hope that RNG is used for raids but use a token to buy styled system!!! Thanks, Madcat

  • If any bungie employee reads this please pass it on to the developers. The issue with destiny is the loot system, now this is just one of many problems but it is the most important. How can you have a loot based game with a broken loot system. Bungie you don't want people farming engrams in caves, but with the last update now people are just farming engrams through strikes! These are just a few quotes from the forums that other concerned guardians said about the loot. Now I understand its hard to balance things out so that people who aren't as good at the game can still get good stuff, but you can't ignore the thousands of people telling you how angry they are that they finish too of the leader boards and got nothing while the guys down at the bottom raked in legendaries. Bungie if you want to save a loot based game you have to fix the loot system. Thanks and happy hunting

  • Thank you Deej, I'm really glad you were paying attention this whole time. Being honest... I really expected much more from Destiny, but I still have hope that this game is going to build much more over time.

  • Frankly that was the least sarcastic and thought out post I've seen from you on this forum. Keep doing that. What most of us want is not a reply to EVERY thread, but we would like to see you, or another team member engaging the community. Letting us know what you think of ideas. It could be something as simple as "good idea" or "we're already on that." just something to let us know it's actually doing something. Hell you could make a sticky with ideas from threads you liked and what might be implemented. This would be the easiest way to let people know what you're working on, get feedback on it and get more suggestions. This is why I made a thread about engagement, we WANT to hear from you more often. To be left to 1-2 lines of text at random intervals is making us think our 'feedback' is falling on deaf ears regardless of it being said "we read everything" to which I find hard to believe.

  • ...? You made it sound like a large majority of the developers and like don't bother looking here themselves. I really don't know how to feel about that, but I know what a pain it is to constantly read negative this and that, which is what 90% of this forum is. On that note, it's so awful that it's quite entertaining. As long as someone can tell them what we think, I guess it works out.

  • Only thing I would like an in-depth response to is, why the 3 man limit on fireteams? 3 man fireteams because of the 3 classes? Well, vanguard strike playlist and strikes randomly assign players without regard to their class choice. Therefore that reason doesn't hold up at all. I know Bungie will improve upon the game mechanics, PVP lag, weapon balance it will happen in time. I'd simply like to know why since the beta have 1000s of people calling for larger fireteams been completely ignored? I had a group for VoG 6 man fireteam but 4 of those people have now returned Destiny. We weren't into PVP, well I don't mind a few games but most of my crew didn't play it. So the ONLY event we could all do together was VoG once per week. It truly boggles my mind why such a limit was placed on our co-op experience. So I ask these questions - Why are fireteams limited to 3 people? Is it limitations on console or server side? Or is it simply a design choice? If its a design choice, have to say you've lost me on the reason for it.

  • Deej, I really hope you and the developers can make decisions that will make gamers happy and make your wallets healthy. But making decisions that focus on how much money you make is ruining this game and it just came out. You're making us pay for dlc that have already been in the game. I would have been fine with that if your game had a story I can play out of my own free will. Not because of bounties that'll increase my faction rep by 100-125 points. Halo was an amazing series, it had amazing story telling, great pvp and an amazing community. If you want your game to be the step in gaming, don't mess it up because of the group of people that want money. You wouldn't sell someone a honey bun with no icing and say you'll sell it to them 4 months later(just a quick comparison). I honestly can say that once DA Inquisition, Far Cry 4, and Homefront the New Revolution come out, I won't think about playing this game because there is nothing worth my time and money. I will post a link to a video that makes a lot of sense and why I believe your game won't make it. http://youtu.be/UZ5BpeHVTWY

We do not need to be told we are bearing seen and heard. We want to be shown we are being seen and heard. Our ideas, as grand as they are or... not, are numerous. If at least one of them, ONE, is being worked on then show it. Otherwise we assume the worse. It isn't too much o ask for. A peek into our beloved developers work would be enough for a lot of us. To know they do care instead of being told they do. Your word alone means little. I do not mean that as an insult but you are just one man.

  • Thank you for your time spent reading and sorting through all the posts, and countless out her media to try to give us a great gaming experience. Yes, I agree that I thought this game would have been a bit more MMO open world than it is, But that was MY thinking, not Bungie. I eagerly await the DLC packs and to see where this game is going. I owe more than Bungie, yourself or Xbox will ever even begin to understand or know. Bungie gave me use of my hands back after a tragic fire in which I saved my daughter life, but died in the process. For the past 4 years, it had been Halo Reach and Bungie that taught me to be able to use my hands after 4th degree burns nearly took them from me. Not to mention the distraction from the constant nerve pain I have, twisted spine and more that Bungie and Halo took me away from. I still " wear" my Bungie tag every time I play reach and am damn proud of it. Please accept my apology and keep up the good fight. Your. "Seriously" number one Fan and supporter, IRA PRIE5T. • Is there a specific format you prefer for suggestions? Whilst friends and I have been playing we've been kicking around a few ideas for things I that feel would be relatively easy to add (hard to tell without seeing how you've constructed the back end of the game) which we feel would add a fair amount of variety to the game and I'd like to write them up as a relatively detailed list of suggestions. I'd just like to know that I'm not going to make them impenetrably long and trigger a TL:DR response since I'm a loquacious bugger at the best of times.

        • I really do apologize for the more upset members of the community. I do love this game a lot, and the universe is so wonderful, I wish I could have been part of the team who helped write it into being. I'm really very happy that you guys are even acknowledging the feedback from the community, and I really do hope it becomes reflected in all of the updates and DLC you guys decide to put out. DeeJ, thanks for guiding the arrows on these shots over the past few weeks. Burn bright and burn blue, fellow Guardians.

        • The problem is the people that code the game don't care what u post they have bosses that delegate tasks and goals to reach that they decide is prevalent to the future of not only the project at hand but the company in whole... the bosses them selves have support advisers who weed through hundreds of topic pionts and suggetion that are made aware by testers who are paid to look for flaws no matter how miniscule ..... then to cater to the public they setup an army of p.r.campaigners.who job its is to hire or recruit ppl to reassure the majority of its consumers that they are listening to ur feedback and to respond with scripted+ poll tested responses to ur complaints then u have the public faces and forum moderators that tie the whole process together to give u a false sense of a community that can influence change...................................................................................................................ONE OF THOSE FACES HAPPENS TO BE ........DEEJ ....himself.........

        • Instead of xur handing out a specific exotic it should be an engram and it would be random each week from a primary, special, or heavy. Then same with the armor pieces too. Also Xur should have a raid shop and every hard raid you got like 5 points and every normal you got 1 and each one of his raid gear he sold would be like 10 or so? Just some thoughts anyway

          • There is no way this post is ill-advised. It's class act, man. I can't apologize for anyone, but know that not everyone out here is all fire and brimstone about this game. I happen to love it. In fact, Imma go play right now. Peace!
