Guns DO have talent trees. Simply a different layout. Sorry it doesn't literally represent a -blam!-ing tree.
That same building falls in the game. Pay attention.

I'm curious what happened with the talent points that you used to level up the guns. That whole concept got scraped, I wonder why? Would be interesting to find out the inner workings of that last year and the changes they made.

They seem to still be there, but its more of a directed path rather than "choose from these three now". They are viewing it as unlocking in a progression with the choice to do whatever later after you tried them all. Same idea and more plays across all the skills rather than a single path.

Yeah, it's all still there, but the presence of talent points hints at an entirely different leveling system.
