After seeing so many vocal threads and posts in response to the Atheon fixes...it finally clicked. Bungie is trolling us. How you may ask? Pull up a seat and allow me to explain.
In all of the hot fixes, Bungie has made a joke at their own expense. Remember the engram hot fix? "Cryptarch was shown a bag of doorknobs to decode." The loot cave now has the infamous Master Rahool line. All of these were like the tech guy came down the hall and said, I fixed those bugs for you. Sorry about that.
Yet in this one, things were drastically different. It felt like we were invited a huge conference room and the CEO sat down and explained matters. There were no jokes in this hot fix. I kept wondering why this was so different.
They put in "Baby Bumpers."
Ding! Then it clicked. They heard all the complaints, sighed, and had to be mommy and daddy. They are patting you on the back because it was so unfair that other players were more creative and found a faster and more efficient method of killing Atheon. What do they do to make you feel better? To make all of you who sounded like little children, "That's not fair! That's cheating!" they added in "baby bumpers."
That's right, you acted like children and were treated as children. I bet all of you that were so against pushing Atheon were hooting and hollering, doing cart wheels, laughing, cheering, etc. when you read that hot fix. During your celebration, you failed to realize how the joke was on you. They fixed the problem, but the way they worded it, essentially you were told to get over it and grow up.
This still cracks me up. Bungie, well played.
Before you start responding, please keep in mind, I was completely indifferent towards the use of the cheese method (to each their own), but did agree with many that it needed to be fixed.
Edited for clarification.
New Edit: These keeps coming up, so I will state it here. Bungie did call it a glitch. They had to because of the position they are in. As a business you don't admit to the vocal customers that you allowed an exploit that made the boss super easy through. Bad marketing. The pushing is an exploit. A glitch is an exploit, but it is a more specific type. A glitch is an exploit that breaks the game. Examples are allowing you to clip through enemies indefinitely or gain unlimited ammo or invulnerability. The pushing method was clearly a creative way to exploit the enemy AI and terrain to ones advantage. Regardless, if one defines it as an exploit or glitch/bug it needed to be fixed.

Do people not realize that most of the people that work for tech companies are like 21-28 yrs old. Of course they're trolling, most of them prob play
-
I love this thread.
-
*Claps slowly*
-
See that street over there? Now go play in it. #Stupid
-
you know... its still not fixed right? there was never a hotfix...
-
We've added "baby bumpers" to areas where players could knock Atheon out of the environment. Knocking a boss off a ledge is a bug. We will seek to address bugs like these as quickly as possible. Baby bumpers- as in for the people crying about it. Bug- as in people crying about it are bugging us

I died laughing haha. I love the part that you think you are being creative about pushing atheon off. Making yourself look creative when you just saw the video, comment, or reddit about it like everyone else. Then you started to do it that makes you "creative" then you are angry cause fixing a bug that people exploited so bungie knowing its a bug and want to fix it ( cause that's what devs do in a game )!instantly turns people who didn't need a bug to do easy content as it is into the "babies" . Hahahahahahahahahahaha oh man hahaha....... Oh wait.....
-
You must have the shinigami eyes. (Like if you get that)
-
Lol you're terrible kid
-
I don't understand the argument if you don't want to push him then don't . If you do want to push him go for it what does it matter what other people do
-
I can't take anybody with a name like "Epic Wang" seriously...
-
It's not the way to beat him. Yes it is easy and fast, but it's wrong. It isn't a glitch nor a bug. People exploit the oppertunity. Some might say this is wrong, some might say it's handy. I did it myself because I can. I don't say it's right they are fixing it, but It's logical they do it. Baby bumper? Oke. Rather fix his AI.

If Bungie trolling us with the last nerve patches, there is one way to troll back: Dont buy the DLC!
-
It was only "super easy" if you were one if the ones who got to watch while the warlocks used precision and skill to outsmart the boss. I'm glad it's being patched. I'm sick of people asking me to push him off lol
-
EpicWang7! What do your Elven eyes see?
Awesome deducing skills btw
-
That was a pretty funny thing you picked up man, good job :)
-
I think a lot of the people that complained was the ones not doing the raid. I've beat it the normal way and I've pushed him off and none was no harder than than the other on normal. Hard is a whole other matter cause he's really hard to beat on hard .
-
Baby Bumpers...reference to BOWLING. They keep the ball from falling in the gutter. Simple as that, although I enjoyed ur creativity.
-
you know, I bet Bungie intentionally left it in there to see who'd find it, once it was found they we're proud of their community for being creative... then they have to "fix" it.
-
Edited by Zardoz: 10/22/2014 5:21:20 AMso ice breaker is a glitch with unlimited ammo?
SARCASM
-
You sound like baby to me human but what do I know I'm just a whale~
-
I don't know about you guys but I'm still able to bully Atheon off the ledge
-
it was back handed slap of a post directed at all players of the game.
-
So basically you are upset?
-
Baby bumpers are suppose to make it easier bungie :'(
-
Strong theory, very strong, atheon just doesn't understand gravity and ledges.hes baby atheon jr.
