Have just bought Destiny, and unable to play!

I am not normally the type to post complaints when service is disrupted (like when COD servers go offline for a couple of hours). I work in IT, and I am aware that there are sometime unavoidable issues which can result in outages. The issue with the Bungie servers falls well outside of that remit. You have designed a game that is literally unplayable without a continuous connection to your servers, and then have blatantly failed to invest sufficiently in your server side infrastructure, resulting in a large number of your customers being unable to play the game you have sold them. Reading the various forum posts, this issue has continued for weeks for some, and that is simply not acceptable. I am not sure how the law stands in other countries, but in the UK this situation definitely falls under the banner 'not fit for purpose', and would entitle anyone who has bought the game a full refund. Having said that I bought the game in order to play it, and would prefer that the server issue be resolved so that I can. But I'm not idiot, and I won't accept spending £40 of my hard earned cash on a game for it sit on a shelf indefinitely. Speaking for myself, and maybe for others, I think we need Bungie to come clean about what the issues are, and a realistic timeline when the issues will be resolved. Then we can make our own choices.

    When ever they update something they always screw something else up. When are they going to fix this problem they have now? Will it be 1 day or 2 to 4 weeks from now? Bungie needs to get their heads out of their rears and get the problem fixed. Everybody spent so much money for the game and they can not play. THEY JUST DO NOT CARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY GOT THEIR MONEY THAT IS AL THAT MATTERS TO THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Destiny has been up and running fine all week. The ONLY issues I had was when I had a router connected to my modem and tried playing that way <-- THIS DOES NOT WORK IF anyone is trying this and is getting constant disconnects, then that is why. You'll need to bridge your modem and let your router (linksys in my case) handle everything (such as port forwarding/triggering etc) I've never had to go through so much network configuration just to play a game but in the end it was really on my side of things. Their servers are up and running and ppl are playing; so that really does mean it's on your side of things (ISP, network, connection strength, etc)

    • Trust me. I agree with all of you. Every single one of you. I've been trying to play on Xbox 360 for the past two weeks since the first update. And still nothing is resolved. I've been trying to play with friends and within five minutes I got booted offline. And then to top of it off there is nothing wrong with my internet connection or my console. This is Bungie's servers plain and single.

    • Bungie's line: Fix your network settings. It's pretty funny to get disconnected from orbit while typing this message. The servers are so broken, so poorly functioning, it's laughable. This has got to be one of the largest disasters for a triple A game in history. Sadly, that is not hyperbole.

      • I, like everyone else am struggling with this game. If I'm lucky enough to connect it's all for 10 minutes then disconnected. It's a joke. As a faulty product I don't suppose Bungie are thinking of refunds for the game we have all been stupid enough to pay £40+ for???

        • Can't even get the game to install after sign in. WASP error, after 50 % of 5 mg update, going on 8 days and can't even create a damn character. WTH Bungie? Any help?

        • I wouldn't even be THAT annoyed if Bungie bothered to let us know that they were doing something about it and provided us with some kind of timescale. They're constantly updating this game to change the way that we play, nerfing weapons and "balancing" everything, but they can't even give us an update on why some of us haven't been able to sign in for 2 days?! Seems like most of their time is wasted changing random elements to this game when it should be spent fixing things, once the game is fixed then they can focus on the rest of the pointless crap they think needs changing.

          • Okay, I have not been able to play destiny at all excluding the two time it finally worked! I keep getting a error that says unable to to sign in to destiny servers. Your online permission may have changed or your signed in elswell" with no error code. Can someone help?

            • In Bungie's defense, this is a completely new endeavor for them. Sure they've made high quality products before, but their games were not like this. Going from FPS to RPGFPS is definitely different. Maintaining open world, dynamic environments must be harder to accomplish. Despite that, they need to compensate players for outages as many other developers have done before. And at worst, offer a refund.

            • I don't think I've ever had a game cause this much trouble before in terms of, well, just getting in to play the damn thing! I spent weeks unable to play due to a Wasp error. And finally, a few days ago, I am able to start playing again... only to get kicked off every few minutes. Now I can't even login either. I know games are complex and difficult to develop (I spent well over 10 years in the industry myself) but this is - quite frankly - ridiculous. I'm just upset that I can't get a refund for what amounts to a seemingly defective product :(

                • Well stated. Personally, I had, until recently, only been getting dumped from the game ever now and then. An annoyance to be sure, but nothing to rant and rave about. However, after the Xbox One update, which came out yesterday around noon, GMT, I have been having major issues. First, there was the issue of not being able to sign in. Unplugging the One and plugging it back in after a minutes time solved that issue. Now, I can't go 10 to 15 minutes without out being bumped back to the sign in screen, and being given some goofy animal-named error code. And lets not forget the many that seem to have been having issues since the release of the game. I can understand if Bungie is having issues on their end that need to be worked out, but the utter lack of ANYTHING, information wise, from Bungie is the most disturbing part. At least inform your customers and keep them updated. Least Bungie forget, we are paying customers; paying for a service that we are not properly receiving. I think the lack of any information on these issue from Bungie is what I find most disturbing. Someone below posted a tweet from Bungie, I believe. A tweet? That's all we get on the matter? If this is what Bungie thinks passes for customer service, I for one will think twice about purchasing anything with Bungies name on it in the future. And I suspect many feel the same way.

                • Lets just wait for a week or 2 for a solution, after that im quitting this game and swithcing to Call of Duty: Advanced warfare which has the same Multiplayer experience then Destiny (Probably). Greetings
