Edit: If you comment before reading the entire OP I will kill you.
I am absolutely in love with the Hunter Class, particularly the Gunslinger. But, it seems to me that Golden Gun is drastically underpowered compared to other class' supers.
There are many instances where it takes all three bullets to kill one enemy, whereas Nova Bomb and Fist of Havoc could one shot that enemy and then some.
Seriously, a level 28 hunter should not need to waste all three bullets on one level 24 Fallen Captain.
Scoring critical hits with a sniper rifle vastly outdamages Golden Gun and is accessible to every class.
I am of the opinion that Golden Gun should one-shot all non-boss/major/ultra enemies and significantly damage enemies it does not one-shot.
If it were up to me I would bump up GGs damage around 50% and give it the ability to score precision damage.
Edit: Since people never bother checking the tags, I am requesting a buff for the purposes of PvE only. GG works perfectly fine in PvP and any buff to it would be redundant because its a one-shot-kill anyway.

Hunters are mostly only good for pvp one shot gun that could kill everyone on the team warlock highest DPS titan helps the team hunters are the worst for PVE
-
It doesn't even matter for the PvP side of things. It's already a one shot on everything (accept interceptor) even if you just used a Warlock Self Resurrect. If you buffed it altogether it wouldn't matter a bit in PvP. In PvE I don't even use GG. Just waste it at the end if the mission.
-
Was gonna say.. GG is one hit kill in pvp, a buff for pve I wouldn't care about
-
I agree. Just further pushes the Hunter deeper into the crucible only stereotype
-
Needs to happen. It may be decent for breaking solar shields, but it's useless for everything else...
-
Please don't kill me (> '.' <)
-
I agree so much with you, (this is coming from a titan)

+1 for PVE buff! I hardly use my GG, but I love my throwing knives and tripmine but my "non-super" weapons do way more damage with precision hits than my GG so it falls by the wayside most of the time. Useless against bosses, majors, ultras. I only use it to kill dregs and the like to give orbs to my fireteam. Solo I never use it because the switch time back to my other weapons just doesn't make it worth it in a mob fight. I'm going to throw in a disclaimer that this is just how I personally find I use my GG and I would love to use it more in PVE.

Hunters are stupid its a stupid special and no body wants them they should be switch with master chief so every hunter is a Mc then they can all line for public event humiliation
-
Don't buff the direct damage too much, just enough to knock off a shield, then have it add a brutal DoT effect. Or have talents with 1 of 2 options: More direct damage. DoT damage. Let you choose whether you want to spread it across multiple mobs or focus one down quickly
-
Stupid its a super why would it need to be nerfed
-
Obligatory commenting before reading. They need to nerf golden gun, not buff it.
-
I'll start by saying I agree with the ideas to buff the golden gun in pve, because it needs to deal critical damage, and it should outperform a sniper rifle for at least 3 or 4 shots. Anyone who seriously takes on Atheon will tell you not to use your super (as a gunslinger) because your regular guns deal tons more damage. However, I believe it needs a small pvp buff as well. To explain, imagine a scenario with a striker, voidwalker, and a gunslinger, all facing off against a defender bubble and 6 guardians in it. Two of those supers will not only destroy the bubble, but also everyone in it. The other (gunslinger) can only get one guaranteed kill so long as they don't miss or get killed themselves after the bubble is down. What I would like to see is a small buff to the over penetration perk that would allow golden gun bullets to pierce the bubble (and thin walls and doors) with only enough damage to take off half a players health. This wouldn't overpower the gun in any way, as it would take two shots to kill through an object, but it would balance it with other supers that can kill around corners, seek targets, and pretty much lock an area down with an AoE. The pve buff is definitely more important and should be addressed first though.
-
It should do crit damage in PvE. Heck, it could do that in PvP too and it wouldn't matter because its a one shot kill already.
-
The best buff is to allow golden gun to crit with headshots. Then it would be a worthwhile super. There should be no reason why a sniper rifle should do more damage than a super.
-
Don't worry dude at higher level even fists of Havok doesn't kill enemy's with shields
-
Sounds right... Thats why i use BD's camo ability in PVE to get the snipe head shot in thus doing more than golden gun super with out the super XD
-
Didn't read. Hunters have a one shot gun. Don't pop it in a crowded room of people.
-
I agree however as a mainly hunter player, and because I can't get the blade dancer helmet I use golden gun often and I would also like a nerf to it I want there to be no aim assist on it for both pve and pvp so I feel like I beat a guy because i am more accurate in PvP and crits in pve take more skill

Well I feel this should stay at the top. So bump.
-
If this happens, my Achlyophage Symbiote will actually be used for something other than the discipline...
-
Bump!

Fist of havoc kills captains because it matches their shield weakness. Go shoot at some wizards or shielded shanks with a golden gun, I'm sure it'll be more effective.
-
Overall damage buff? Maybe, maybe not. Add the ability to crit? Yes. Definately. Precision class (that's what I think of when I think Hunter) should be rewarded for being precise. If any class can out damage you with the right sniper rifle vs your Super for your specific class then it probably needs adjusted.

I agree. All they would need to do is allow you to shoot as much as you want until the timer runs out just like the Sunsinger does with grenades.
