After many attempts at the Raid on normal and hard I've come to the conclusion many of us have, and that is "Man I'm the most unlucky person in the history of the world." Fear not however I have a mind blowing idea that if implemented correctly would greatly enhance the desire for players to do, and complete the raid.
Step 1: Completely remove Raid weapons/armor from the item pool and replace them with a Currency that I will call Kabr's Memory Fragments. (could be called anything related to the VoG really) Make it so that 1-3 are rewarded from completing segments of the raid on normal and 3-5 for Hard. Kabr's Memory Fragments would be guaranteed rewards so fear not. Chest take it or leave it could yield either Raid gear or Memory Fragments, haven't really put much thought into it since they can only be opened once per week regardless.
Step 2: Add a vendor in town (I was personally thinking Kabr's Ghost) who will sell almost every piece of Raid gear minus things like the Vex Mythoclast and Sparrow/Shader/Ship/player accents.
Step 3: profit! Gear cost would be scaled but similar to that of other vendors so gear doesn't seem like it would be an endless grind to try and obtain, as your average run would look something like Normal = 5-15 Hard = 15-25 fragments.
Example;
Any Raid Weapon = 25 Kabr's memory Fragments
Raid Helmet = 30 Kabr's Memory Fragments
Other Raid Armor = 15 Kabr's Memory Fragments
What are your guys thoughts? Good idea? Bad Idea? Deserves a sticky maybe? Who knows :D
Edit: Come on back to the front page >:D almost 4000 votes dayum!

Just do the raid on hard.. I got tones of good loot on my go.
-
shouldnt fix whats not broken. its perfectly fine the way it is now
-
I am highly opposed to this, without the weapon drops my found verdict collection will be shut down (I currently have 10).
-
I agree to a certain degree. Make the armor sets purchasable with raid currency, but keep the weapons/shaders/ships as drops. Everyone loves drops, but when you can't progress the level of your character because of crummy RNG, that stings.

Edited by EhFreud: 10/21/2014 2:17:11 AMI rather have the traditional boss loot system from many other MMOs: kill the boss, it drops 3 items, you need, greed or pass. If you don't get the loot you are guaranteed a shard. What I find non sense is killing a boss and no one gets shit. Besides this game has already a ridiculous amount of currency.
-
Only at max 8 a week it would take forever to get good gear
-
I like it. Could you please expand your idea to include future raids and such?
-
Bump, yes. I mean, seriously, we have Vanguard and Crucible currency, but no raid currency?
-
I think it's kinda funny these numbers are dangerously close to the same percents as ppl who didnt have the vm
-
The Helmet should not be sold. That is a Hard mode only reward, it just should be guaranteed to drop on hard.
-
Add in "fragments of Atheon" for the hard mode and it unlocks hard mode loot for 40 KMF plus one fragment of Atheon.
-
Good idea but man this is too much work for bungie. How about we nerf something? Just a change of numbers in the codes, very simple things they can do to fcuk your gameplay up and probably make you stay til December.
-
The current method is perfect if anything the chance of armor drop should be lowered significantly. This comes from someone whos run 6 raids on my titan 2 on hard and not received a single raid armor. Doing this turns it from chance of nice drop fun into pain in the ass grind like everything else.
-
if a whole run we get 15-25 each id rather just get lucky and get 2 gear instead pretty much playing 2 raids to get 1 gear each
-
That's be a great idea. I fully support this 100% I've only done the raid once and I got lucky too, I happened to be on at 0200 and someone invited me.
-
What would stop people from just repeating antheon over and over again for marks?
-
As someone who has beaten every normal raid since launch, and 3 hard mode raids, and still haven't gotten some damn hunter boots, i really want this change.
-
I have to say there many great ideas the players come up with that would make any great game better. It's the fact that the developers wouldn't want to give credit to other people for making there game an even better experience. In my opinion that's why you don't see changes that were addressed by just some guy posting on the forums. Great idea though would be good

I think this is a very good idea, but the exotics from the raid should only be from chests. Xûr is bad enough with selling exotics to everyone so that everyone can have those exotics, but if you could buy exotics for a set price that people could grind out of the VoG, then everyone would have those exotics and it would throw their rarity out the window.

I certainly wouldn't mind this, however I would just be happy for some basic duplicate protection. I've received Atheon's Epilogue 5 x now. It would work pretty simple.. So say you roll a weapon as a reward, the system would check to see if that weapon was in your inventory and if so that weapon would be taken out of the roll for which weapon you get. Same thing applies to armor, you hit an armor roll and have the chest, the game sees you have the chest and takes it out of the roll. That alone would make it so much better because you would know that if you get lucky you'd at least not get the same thing multiple times. I'm probably going to freak out if i get 3 more Atheon's Epilogue after the reset.

I would much prefer something like the Marks (as in Currency) over the current completely broken system. If they want to keep some items exclusive to Hard raid, they could just implement two different currency types. I think the Vex Mythoclast, Ship, Sparrow, etc should all still be purchaseable by the currency. Or if 1 currency is more desirable than have the Hard items just locked behind a Reputation Level requirement.

Waah! I've not got all the raid gear! Waah! I've completed the raid loads of times! Waah! I want it mummy! Waah! Someone get a pacifier and a troll to drink this guys tears
-
I think I would rather take my chances of getting them randomly than waiting that many weeks to buy a gun. I've been lucky so far.
-
I agree, instead of 1-3 for normal make it 1-2. Hard 4-5

Edited by Kozy: 10/20/2014 8:46:23 PMSOMETHING needs to be done. I've completed normal raid about 6 times and the hard 3 times. What do I have to show for it? A few chatterwhites, a few legendary guns, and a sparrow. I received raid arms on my first try and since then I haven't been rewarded a single armor piece. Meanwhile, my friends are level 27 with full raid gear. How? They got everything from a normal and hard raid they completed on the same day. If our level wasn't based on armor then I wouldn't be upset with this. When the next raid comes out what will be the level requirement? 30? While everybody is playing that, i'll be playing my VoG twice a week begging bungie to give me a helmet and legs so I can play the rest of the game. I don't think the raiding loot system needs a full rework. Atleast increase the amount of times we can gain rewards from it. Its pathetic that I get 2 tries at a lottery machine then have to wait a full week to try again.

Edited by Hypinatr: 10/20/2014 3:24:32 PMI beat Atheon on Hard last night with my Sunsinger. I got 3 ascendant energy and the ship. Helped my clan members with it a few hours ago. 2 people got mythoclast, helmet, and other cool stuff. At least 4 rewards each. It makes no sense and is a terrible system. Edit- So here's what my other characters got after beating Atheon on hard again. Hunter - 3 ascendant shards, ship Titan - 3 ascendant shards, sparrow My clan members all got better stuff. Some had 3 or 4 rewards. Im done putting up with Bungie's BS. I hope the rest of you have better luck. Why put any effort into a game that has a poor loot system.
