[POLL] Change to Raid loot system!

After many attempts at the Raid on normal and hard I've come to the conclusion many of us have, and that is "Man I'm the most unlucky person in the history of the world." Fear not however I have a mind blowing idea that if implemented correctly would greatly enhance the desire for players to do, and complete the raid. Step 1: Completely remove Raid weapons/armor from the item pool and replace them with a Currency that I will call Kabr's Memory Fragments. (could be called anything related to the VoG really) Make it so that 1-3 are rewarded from completing segments of the raid on normal and 3-5 for Hard. Kabr's Memory Fragments would be guaranteed rewards so fear not. Chest take it or leave it could yield either Raid gear or Memory Fragments, haven't really put much thought into it since they can only be opened once per week regardless. Step 2: Add a vendor in town (I was personally thinking Kabr's Ghost) who will sell almost every piece of Raid gear minus things like the Vex Mythoclast and Sparrow/Shader/Ship/player accents. Step 3: profit! Gear cost would be scaled but similar to that of other vendors so gear doesn't seem like it would be an endless grind to try and obtain, as your average run would look something like Normal = 5-15 Hard = 15-25 fragments. Example; Any Raid Weapon = 25 Kabr's memory Fragments Raid Helmet = 30 Kabr's Memory Fragments Other Raid Armor = 15 Kabr's Memory Fragments What are your guys thoughts? Good idea? Bad Idea? Deserves a sticky maybe? Who knows :D Edit: Come on back to the front page >:D almost 4000 votes dayum!

  • They're not going to rewrite a loot system code to implement something like that. It's a bad idea anyway, you're basically giving the hardcore players an easy way of jumping far ahead of people who aren't even ready for hard mode. Loot system is fine how it is.

  • Only problem I can forsee is wanting variable stats & rolls for your different armors and weapons. When you receive a drop in the vault, it randomly rolls stats.

  • No. I like the current raid reward system. Plus Kabr's ghost is dead and it doesn't make sense for vendor to have stuff that was lost in the vault.

    • Any idea to improve the chances of players to reach level 30, would be welcome. I am over 15 Raids trying to grab the gauntlets of the hunter, and nothing so far. I'm already sick enough to see friends who started Destiny 1 months after me, and they are already at level 30.

"Any Raid Weapon = 25 Kabr's memory Fragments Raid Helmet = 30 Kabr's Memory Fragments Other Raid Armor = 15 Kabr's Memory Fragments" Now I know my answer is no. Then VOG would be not even worth playing anymore. If you could and have the Oracles lives and get their loot every week...once.

        • I like the sentiment that there should be an alternative way to get level 30 gear without a random drop in the raid even if its only through more grinding. I have a full time job and girlfriend etc. I'm lucky if i can do the raid once a week. I'm 5 raids in and i have only gotten ascended materials 4 out of 5. Got the boots once. I understand that people like having gear that not everyone else has and i don't care if there is special raid gear with better perks that you can only get from random drops in the raid. But make another way that people can get level 30 gear even if its getting raid currency to cash in with a vendor, the arbitrary nature of the current system is disenfranchising. I don't play MMOs they don't appeal to me, destiny is the only one that interested me because i use to play halo and its a shooter. I don't to play some boring grind game i have to play 30+ hrs a week for a minimal chance of getting some of the top level stuff. I just want it to be possible for a casual gamer to hit level 30 even i am lesser of a level 30 then people with 'special raid gear.'

          • I think like in ffxiv they have raid currency that was easy to get if u completed the raid It didn't give you the raid gear that dropped in the raid but you could purchase gear that was on the same lvl as raid gear We should get like token or something. Every 10 raids u beat ; you're able to force drop 1 raid gear of choosing after a boss or openna special chest and get what u want I'm 31 raids in and I've never seen hunter hands drop for me ... like seriously.

          • With this method, if you did it on normal, it would take 2 weeks to get a pierce of national if you are the average 1 character person, personally I have 3 that I can run the vault with. I still think that it would be a pain to run it 3 times just I get 2 pieces are armor. I prefer trying my luck with the RNG, then when I am rewarded with the raid gear, I feel lucky and that I earned it. Using the Kabrs Memory Fragments I will constantly feel bored and annoyed since I will be counting down the amount that I need. If the amounts needed for the weapons was decreased I would be all for it. I would much rather the weapons be for sale rather than the armor. However, I feel that the drop rate for the armor should be slightly boosted, I've been trying for almost a month, with 3 characters to get the final piece of raid gear for my Titan.

          • What if each drop in the raid was assigned a value. Every player would start the week with a value of 100 and would lose value every time he or she gets a drop. Upgrade materials could be worth 10 units (1 upgrade material drop removes 10 value) and raid drops would be worth 95 or something. It wouldn't be mandatory to have value greater than or equal to the cost of the drop but you're more likely to get a drop with a value closer to your own personal value (with 5 value remaining, you can still get raid gear it's just less likely). Hard and normal would have a separate weekly value. This system allows you to have more chances at receiving rewards and prevents farming.

          • This would make becoming 30 TOO easily achievable and bungie does not want this, this games been out for a short time and there are more 30s and ppl beating raids and hard raids than they anticipated I believe.

              • Whatever piece you want just stop wanting it so badly and you'll get it. The more you think about it the more it will upset you. If you just play the raid with some cool friends and explore it you'll get the reward. I still haven't gotten the vex but I'll be there every week playing hard mode until I get it.

                • Completed raid 6 times on my main and only 1 piece of raid armor to show for it. If this keeps up for the next 6 weeks until the dlc, I will be selling my game back to gamestop. This has sucked all the fun out of the game for me. I have friends who have completed the raid 2 times and have 3 pieces of raid armor. Meaning they have done a third of the work/effort and have 3x the profit. Writing this now is only making me want to go sell the game now but I will stick it out until the dlc because I have faith bungie.

                • The problem is that I'm stuck on 29. For the past three weeks, i've finished the Vault on Hard and Normal, and have not once recieved the Boots of the Hezen Lords. It's ridiculous. For this reason, I think the reward system need a change like this, as there is no reason for me to play the game for more than once a week.

                  • I'd like to see currency drops for the normal raid, then have hard mode gear be exclusive to hm. But at the same time bump up the max level from 30 (normal raid gear) to say 31 (with hard mode gear).

                    • This is a fantastic idea. I have been lucky in one character but completely shafted on two others, and considering how many of my friends have quit raiding b/c after 4 weeks they have nothing to show from it, this can only help.i still think there should be special weapons dropped from bosses, but my 2 cents

Currency exchange for raid acquired gear is a slippery slope. It will induce more tears than Xur currently does (which are unfounded and unnecessary) and in some MMOs the cost for those items sky rockets to ensure the player has to put in extensive amounts of time to acquire the gear vs the possibly extensive amount of time it might have taken them to get lucky enough on a drop from an encounter. Either way the goal is to provide a carrot in front of the players face to keep them interested for a longer period of time.

                        • Yes. I was thinking almost the same thing. Include raid currency earned through boss fights or chests and have a vendor unlock after beating hardmode that sells the gear and weapons. This way they could keep the rng while also allowing the unlucky raiders to grind the raid and eventually work towards their rewards. That or decrease the drop rate for rewards you already were given. Hopefully when Bungie finally adds more content they won't feel the need to keep such a pathetic loot system.

                            • naw... no need for another currency. only Fix that is needed is people should be able to pass/need/greed. so my friends are lucky bastards but feel unlucky. one is trying to get AE and has 5 VoC. one is trying to get VoC and has 3 AE. now last night we beat the raid? guess what? #6 Voc for the one friend and # 4 AE for the other. what I propose happens at this point is people get the option to pass on the loot. the loot then goes into a need / greed / pass RGN that will give it to one of the other players in the fireteam. need would be an item for your class, greed would be wanting that raid armor for shards.
