RNG Bungie's payroll

I have an idea. Everyone in Bungie should now get a paycheck based on RNG. The amount of work you put it is irrelevant, just that you participated. This means that you can get lucky and receive one of the founders paychecks the next pay period. But we all know you are going to get the green horns pay check. Freelancer 417
And while we're at it, why don't we RNG their jobs too. So one day you might be a concept artist and the next day you're running the whole show! Because everybody needs to be able to perform all the jobs required to run a business!
This is in response to Bungie's apparent keen thought that in order to create difficulty, everything must be random. You can't do "A" and know you are getting rewarded for doing it. All rewards are random. Raid strategies are randomized. It's starting to get annoying. Bungie, your biggest competition this year is Halo MCC. Halo MCC is 3/4 yours. How are you going to let your past work best your current work. I know it has a foundation, but Destiny feels like many steps back from what you have done. Maybe your new RNG Payroll will help you work better at eliminating randomness. Edit: Alright, so there is confusion in two parts. A. I think this system would be a joke, and I don't truly want to see it happen to Bungie. But that's the point of this, to show how the RNG system is a joke, but more so, over used. *cough* *cough* I more mind how over used it is rather than that it's here *cough* *cough* B. Oh this is a fun one. the 99 in my gamertag/username does not stand for 1999. I was not born in 1999. I was born in 1993, and the 99 relates to another event in my life that deals with the number 99. Edit - Adding "Constructive" to this criticism. Current Strike reward System. Regardless of Rank. Lv 24 strike gives a Rare (rarely a legendary engram). This means that a lv 22 that struggles more than a lv 30 is rewarded the same. My solution (Rough, with lot's of kinks to work out. Mainly just brainstorming. (I'm going to regret posting this aren't I)) Instead of having lv 18,20,22, and 24 strike, have a lv 18, 22, 26, and 30 strike. Lv 18 Strike Max reward is a rare engram. If you are past lv 22 then you no longer qualify for that. LV 22 and 26 Strikes. (Note rewards are based on the Highest lv player in your fireteam) Strike level Minus 2 levels for the highest player in the team = Legendary Item Strike level Minus 1 to Strike level +3 for the highest player in the team = Rare Item Strike Lv +4 = 2 Ascendant Material Strike Lv + 5 and Up = No reward Examples: Lv 22 Strike (Lv 26 strikes is similar, just scale all the levels up 4) Fireteam A: Lv 18\ Lv 20 > = Legendary Reward Lv 19/ Fireteam B: Lv 18\ Lv 21 > = Rare Item Lv 19/ Fireteam C: Lv 18\ Lv 25 > = Rare Item Lv 19/ Fireteam D: Lv 18\ Lv 26 > = 2 Ascendant Materials Lv 19/ Fireteam E: Lv 18\ Lv 27 > = Nothing Lv 19/ Lv 30 Strike. (This is where it get's fun. Highest level in fireteam is lv 26 = Exotic Item (Random class if armor) (This means that playing at a minus 4 level crutch, you will truly earn your exotics here.) The level crutch is subject to change. Lv 27-29 = Legendary Item (Still difficult, but doable.) Level 30 = 5 Ascendant Energies (since obviously they don't need shards by the time they get to 30.) What do you guys think. This let's the rewards be random, but you know your going to get something that scales to the difficulty of the task you set out for. The current systems is a set at Lv 24 strikes give everyone the same rewards. Mine makes it so that you can't easily farm high level equipment with at least putting forth the effort.

  • "But that's the point of this, to show how the RNG system is a joke" But your analogy is wrong. RNG is not the only source of high quality gear. You neglect Vanguard Marks, Crucible Marks, Strange coins. With this taken into account, Bungie employees would get their regular paycheck for doing their jobs plus the occasional random bonus check. With vanguard Marks and Strange coins I got the gear I wanted. I knew what I needed to do, did the work, got my reward. If I was into PvP i could have got there even faster. And every faction rank gets you a reward - legendary weapons and armor, cool shaders. I have three toons and so much kit it that I hope now that engrams give me energy or shards instead of gear for all the upgrades.

    • I would just change my light level real quick so I could get better rewards. I'moinly losing defense and I won't be losing any damage. Decent idea though.

    • I don't think the rewards should be based on level alone. I think whoever has the highest amount of kills/least deaths and other contributing factors (who revived the most, who summoned Dinklebot to open the door, add in assists, etc) should have a chance for a roll that's more heavily weighted for a better outcome. Not completely a loaded die seeing as there are a lot of idlers and AFK's out there and whoever just does the strike would get an exotic, I can see how that would be abused by a team of three just taking turns on idling. But whoever was the MVP should have a reflectively higher chance for better loot. I love it when I play strikes and (when I'm with people who actually play) I get more kills than them and I keep track myself on how many times I've died during the strike (most runs it's less than 2 times) but then I get discouraged to see they get legendary engrams and I get two blues, while I have twice, even thrice the kills and less than half their deaths (I'm usually the one reviving, being a Bladedancer for the ease of reviving). I think the RNG rewards should be based a little more on contribution, rather than just participation.

      • What stops people keeping high level gear on til the end, then changing to low level gear to finish it? Or starting with low to pass the check for the strike playlist, switch to high, then back to low to finish and pass the check for the rewards?

            • I love your idea. Currently its like bungie said "remember when Diablo 3 came out and everything was random and nobody like it at all? Yeah lets implement that system." I'm so baffled by it, somebody gave us 2 years of free experience and a "what not to do" cheat sheet…

            • But let's not forget that for the first month even though you get a check that shows $5,276.18 for 2 weeks pay, when you go to cash it they will only give you $381.94.

              • and what would be the point of a lvl 30 doing strikes then if energies (which most have piled up by now from raids) are the only thing you will get from them?

More handouts aye? When will you people learn that obtaining an exotic that is guaranteed is a stupid idea? It defeats the purpose of the system

I think people need to stop bitching about RNG. If you could get whatever you wanted guaranteed from completing something, everybody would have what they wanted. They could design an extremely hard level, and assholes would just find a cheap spot to hide, or way to glitch. RNG may not be the best, but you simply cannot have everyone do exotic bounties for what they want, everyone would already have what they want. I would have completed any mission to get my last word, things would be even less rare then they are now simply because it's guaranteed for completing a simple task. Take the mythoclast for example, if they guaranteed it at the end of every hard raid after obtaining it there would literally be no reason to even play the hard raid anymore, unless you want that ugly ass helmet. You just need to quit your bitching and deal with the fact that in life, sometimes people get lucky. Sometime you don't, it's a -blam!-ing game. Quit trying to change everything about it to suit your personal wants, go design your own game. It amused me to no end the amount of negative criticism bungie has received for this game. This next part is not aimed at OP but in general, if you guys want positive change make a positive effort. This is the product we were given, offer your CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM and hope they change, but understand they do NOT OWE You anything, you purchased the game they made, as it is now. If your unhappy, hopefully you wait for reviews next time. I personally love this game, and come from a maple story, Dragon nest, my is background and see nothing wrong with the RNG. I didn't get my first exotic till last week, I didn't bitch because everyone else got one. I kept Playing excited for when my time would come. People are so entitled in this community and I just don't understand why, RNG is how the game is structured, you knew this before you purchased. If you don't like it PLAY A GAME THAT ISNT RNG BASED, DONT TRY TO CHANGE THEIR PRODUCT. You idiots are akin to somebody walking into a car dealership and buying a ford fusion and complaining because it's not a mustang, so then you want them to modify your car so it's similiar. Next time buy a mustang. /end rant

                          • also have them all be paid in cheques but when they go to cash those cheques in they can either get less money (commonly) the same amount of money (rarely) or more money (once all the planets align perfectly) or they can get "materials" so like a roll of tape or a couple of staples and a pencil.

                            • Maybe you're right... they should make 30 strikes required before a legendary... that way all you fools "earning" loot... by gimping bosses, loot cavin', and being handed strange coins by easy lvl 28 weeklies...can do ACTUAL work. Crai Crai Crai some more....legendaries etc are already easy enough without you scrubs crying for more handouts.

                              • RNG would be fine if we could actually replay the raid more than once a week. Thats how most MMOS are. People gear up for a raid and kill the boss over and over again till good drops come in.

Sure you may not get what u want every nightfall or raid, But at least u GET SOMETHING. and if u don't get what u want u have RichHommieXur on the weekends with even more chances to win. ON TOP OF ALLLLLLL that. u can create even more classes of the same type FOR EVEN MORE CHANCES TO WIN. Trying playing an MMO where u complete a whole 24 man raid / 6 man instance where u down the boss and receive a bucket of pubes. or to piss u off more the boss gives u an uncommon version of what u really want. Destiny is ez mode compared to every other RNG game out their
