Destiny playerbase to drop sharply in the next month
Sometimes I wonder why I'm still playing this game; stuck in the "Skinner box" feedback loop I guess. I think that will change soon, and Bungie's amazing metrics from September and October will look very average at best. Why? Competition. Destiny your competition is almost here and they do what you do, better. Call of Duty: more maps, more modes, and more story (shockingly). Far Cry: Waaaay more varied PvE, actual characters who have, you know, names and motivations, and risk-taking gameplay (fighting on/with animals). Bungie your December DLC had better be LOADED with content if you expect this game to last past Q2 2015. It is no longer fun for me to run the same story missions, strikes, raid, and PvP maps that I already have 100 times before. New planet, new patrol area, or no more of my money. Players, let your dollars speak; it is the only thing Bungie and Activision will hear.

12 RepliesEh, I already bought Destiny's DGE, and thus, the DLC to come, atleast the first batch... I'll be paying it when it comes out, solely because I bought it, so why not. However, I've been done with this game for a bit now. There are far better MMO/RPG experiences out there, and the shoot/loot aspects can be satisfied with Borderlands or... any other shooter really, atleast for the shooting half. Most of which offer a more stable PvP field to compete in. This game doesn't offer anything amazing, I was hoping it'd be varied and awesome, but it's just not, the story is incoherent jumbled mess, not really into anything offered by Destiny anymore, and skeptical Bungie can pull the game out from the hole it's sinking in. All that aside, I've moved to FF14, it's a subscription based MMO, something I haven't considered since Star Wars Galaxies, but you know what? It's damned nice, has a great and immersive story, for an MMO, and is just, everything I'd want in an RPG/MMO experience.... I miss shooting things, from time to time, but, there's better games for that, and I'll grab them eventually to sate that craving.

Destiny is going to have a real hard time convincing me that it is worth playing for the next few months instead of one of those other games.

I expect class action lawsuits to follow. So far it feels as if the game was complete at one point then bungie removed chunks from it, labled it DLC, kept it on the disc then released it for additional income source for later revenue. Edit: What I'm saying is. The game came out Sept 9 and I've already capped out (29) since after vault raids week after week no vault armor. This is what I look forward to doing until the dlc release in Dec? It took 5 years to create this repetitive mess? I get to do the same raids, missions and maps for 4 months?

5 RepliesThank you. You are exactly right. I expect destiny to crash and burn next month. And the only thing that can save it is the dlc. And that's it bungie. You get one chance. Ppl don't play with their money and loyalty has nothing to do with it. Trust me.

2 RepliesCod is gonna be so good.. (Insert sarcasm) Don't forget that at its base destiny is an mmo. Mmo's don't pop out of the ground without flaws. They take time to develop, they take actual data and feed back from the players. I think that at least for me destiny is setting a new experience and I love it. I've played aion and ffxiv before this and cod 2 to mw3. I love shooters and mmo's so that's why this is a great game for me. I can see through the flaws. I know bungie. They love their game, their community. No changes they make are to nagg players. They do what they think is best for the biggest part of the community. You can't keep 100% happy and you'll have to make sacrifices. In time this will be a great game that everyone remembers. Unfaithfully yours, The Speaker.

Yes I am finished with this game too. I'm only on the forum to see if people are still getting bee and other errors and I'm in the process of getting a refund for the game, I can't level past 24 because of the errors which make this game unplayable. Disappointing is how I would describe destiny such a shame as it could have been one of the best games in history but because of cut corners, short repetitive story, and a lack of info and communication for those of us having issues it has turned out to be one of the worst in history. RIP destiny!

As someone who has a lot of stuff going on in my life, full time job, two bands, etc. It is hard as hell to allocate time for this video game. They (bungie) seem slightly confused on what they want from Destiny. As someone who just broke level 27 after cruising around Venus for what seemed like they 700th time for spirit blooms and now with these fixes I'm not even going to attempt to try Vault of Glass, especially because I have no guarantee of getting anything. It would be nice to see a once a week bazaar where you could trade with friends for materials each other could use. (Even cap the amount, I know they would never make things easy) I am confused if they want people to stop playing for a bit and then pick it back up. It seems like they're punishing end game players much more than they should be. I was anticipating a much more open world experience, if they increased the map size 2-3 fold and made it somewhat seamless I would be happy. I get it's still early in the game, these things could happen. Hopefully they will, but it's too early to tell.

My character is sitting on 23 strange coins with nothing good to spend them on each weekend, and I've got two exotic bounties which require me to enter the crucible, which I just don't feel like doing right now. Maybe next week, but I think it's hiatus time.

My 6+ page friends list is barren. The only ones buying the DLC are probably the ones who already paid for it. The others will adopt the *wait and see* approach. And we all know what's in it, like 3 story missions? that won't bring any casuals back. And all in all It's not that big a deal. Even the most loyal will move on eventually. It is just the way of things.

You are right, but do you think it's coincidence that Bungie will "finish" the DLC for December? And that their PR spin is currently about the millions of people playing Destiny? They know they will lose players, but everything is timed to recoup lost players with new ones. Its all about maximizing sales at key intervals (They won't replace all the lost players, but it's fine as long as they hook people, even at increasingly smaller groups)

6 RepliesIt already dropped sharply only 3.2 million ppl playing on 4 platforms when they sold 5.4 million in the first week. Also the ps4 sold about 3 million copies of destiny, so that's kinda bad.

I'll be gone because littlebigplanet 3 but that doesn't mean I won't be back. I like destiny. I mainly play it's pvp because it's well done but pve has gotten more repetitive than eating three times a day.

3 RepliesOkay just putting out there what I think not that it's true so all you trolls and shit can say it is but I've been a bungee fan since halo on the original Xbox I've played every single one for hundreds of hours and completed the campaign several million times just for the fun of it if you think this being a fpsmmo and it be like most fps you shouldn't of thought that if this game is gonna be what we all saw at E3 then we have to give our feedback not our whining asses wanting our refunds all that's gonna do is cause more shit and less updates yes it was stupid of them to post-pone the dlc until Dec seeing as several new games will be out that will obviously crush this game due to the fact people aren't getting what they want out of this one for me I will be playing. All the New games I already have them all pre-ordered like CoD WoD inquisition but I'm still gonna get on here when the New dlc comes out bc I'm a true player and get get over them messing up a few things even tho I do keep getting disconnected I still try to make the best of it so you people that want to bitch about this game go do something else and let the feedback forums be for real problems that need to be fixed no you want your money back

You forgot the new assassin's creed brilliant story even if it takes 3 games to explain anything I still love the story it engaging you still feel like you're fighting for a purpose unlike destiny where its very much shoot the thing. Why because we said so don't question it just do it

1 Replyoh well their stats was what 3MM players 2-3h everyday? It seems like everybody is just doing their bounties and log off, I guess most of those people have already what they wanted so there is no incentives for them to grind more so yeah I guess the numbers will drop dramatically over the next month if there is nothing more. I wouldnt count on a new planet in the DLC.
