Should people be randomly teleported during Atheon fight?
So.. The latest community update says they are going to make it so that 3 people are chosen randomly instead of the 3 furthest away from him.
Basically a big fat -blam!- you to any group that uses strategy.
What say you?
Edit: For me personally, I will be much less likely to take new people through the raid as I don't want to risk doing the Atheon fight for hours. Not to mention that some people just don't want to hold the relic, they should have that choice. Raids in other games use strategy and people fill roles that they're comfortable, this should not be random and I don't like being forced to play the game how they say we should. Of course this is just my opinion.

3 RepliesThere comes to a point where there is too much RNG in the mix. I feel this is unnessasary, and will hurt the raid. Especially with those who havent done the raid and have no clue what they are doing. Not to mention that the teleport screws up from time to time. Those on the outside are tanks and are players built to take damage. Those who teleport are the more mobile players and better at agility. Ive not played alot of MMOs, but this is basic MMO mechanics and planning. Making the teleports random remove the whole planning part of the final fight, making RNG the main factor and any plan useless. Bungie keeps pushing this RNG thing, and this word has me drawing the line. Relying on RNG to make your game hard is not good game design. Not for an MMO-esk game. But i guess most who have done the raid have done it and reaped the rewards. Only ones being hurt now are new players (and doing that wont keep people coming to play and support the game)

Vault of glass is stupid. You need raid gear to beat the freaking raid. I refuse to go with randoms, I have gone with randoms and you will spend hours going nowhere. I was happy to be with an organized team, we identified our strengths and weaknesses and went with the according roles. Today we beat the vault in 1 hour and 10 minutes. Now I wonder if we will beat it at all next week... and if it's even worth it, considering 90% of the time you don't even get a reward. Every decision they've made is the opposite of what they tell us. They want us to be teams and strategize, but force us to be one man armies; they want more people to use long range weapons, but remove any long distance vantage points from the arena; they want us to be pro & high level to finish raid, but in order to be so you need the raid gear. Everything is so -blam!-ing backwards in this game.

No, because now it's not planning and strategy, it's people going crazy shouting 'OMG I GOT TELEPOR- OH LOOK A SHIE- NOPE I'M DEAD' and then everyone proceeds to die from the oracles. This makes the raid far less friendly for new players and really just kills it in my eyes, I haven't yet done the raid on hard or even gotten raid armour bar the cloak, so guess I'm not getting all my raid gear, nice. Also: sorry lower level guys, looks like the majority of bigger players won't be willing to help you anymore after this.

I mean it is kinda annoying that they take out the strategy from it.. but i mean at this point me and my group have killed him so much it wont matter for us... i... i ju.... just want one peace of raid gear.... excuse me while i cry in the corner.

3 RepliesMy opinion: Bungie released the raid with these mechanics, and then decided to change them because people "weren't playing the way they envisioned" when they designed it. But that's how video games work. The whole point of allowing interaction with the medium is for the players to interact with it in the way they want to, which may or may not be the way you envisioned it would be played. If they had such a specific vision of how Destiny was meant to be, and didn't want any deviation from that vision, why didn't they just make a movie?

Am I the only one who really likes this change? I'm super excited for the added difficulty of random people being teleported. That said, it makes weapons that do more damage to oracles less useful since you can't plan to be fighting them

I agree, while Destiny doesn't have the set 3 rules of Tank/Damage/Heals, It should be that people who can use the relic or are good at clearing out the supplicants and such should be the ones to do those roles. It's just going to take longer.. most people can't sit here all day doing the same thing, and failing over and over, for one it kills spirit and the will to want to finish it.

9 RepliesI was part of a team that could complete each stage of teleportation in about 30 secs. We didn't have to communicate, it was second nature. We are razor sharp... and they want to get rid of that. Great, I mean do they want to troll people with this game?

3 RepliesIf you beat vog already is there any reason to kill atheon? I got better loot out of the chests than from him. It will cause people to play up to atheon then bail on the mission.
