Vault of Glass needs a change

So for the past three weeks that I have had time to do the raid I have been screwed over by the VoG rewards. I have only been able to receive three weapons (one of them was the Found Verdict that it gave me three times for god sake) the damn ship twice, and a boat load of ascended materials. This is complete and utter crap, I should not have to go through the raid for about an hour only to then complete it to get the stupid ship and the shader that I already have!!! Bungie seriously, if your reading this you need to change the drops, it is annoying to even think that you could return from the raid with only just ascended materials and nothing else, especially when you get them in the first and forth chest when the weapons and armor you receive you could simply break down if you have them already. Killing the Templar and Aetheon should not yield you ascended materials what so ever, including the phase of defending the confluxes and destroying the oracles as well as the gatekeepers. And god only knows how many people have gone through the same shit that I may have gone through if they tried it on hard difficulty. So my suggestion is this, have it so you only gain the ship and the shader once per character, make it so that Aetheon, the Templar, defending the confluxes and oracle phase, and the gatekeeper only yield you raid gear and weapons, the chests can be left alone. This is by far what will get more people to want to do the raid and I believe this is something that needs to happen.

  • I disagree with this post. Raid rewards are fine. This iscoming from someone who has boots on his Titan and chest on his warlock despite running the raid more times than any 10 people in this thread combined. Hyperbole (or is it?!) aside -- despite sharing your frustration -- I do not think guaranteed anything is ever good. With so many potential loot drops (two rounds of confluxes, two bosses, plus 5 chests) it would be ridiculous to, in 2 runs, max out your character. Play an MMO. That shit takes months...

    • I understand how you feel, I have 3 raid ready characters and I'm getting bogged down by shards. HOWEVER, I feel that the drop that should be changed to all gear is Atheon. If they would just guarantee gear on Atheon (even if it was something that you already have) it would go a long way to boost player morale. That being said, I'm on the verge of quitting destiny due to getting screwed over by this. I have always hated when people say this but I am reaching the breaking point. I got nothing but shards/energy last night and it's maddening getting nothing but ascendant material every week...

      • Everyone need to understand that's how these games work if u want to get everything in a game in a month go play borderlands (game that I love) but that's why u play games like this for the struggle and going not to complain because u don't have what everyone else had its luck

        • A single token for completing the raid on normal that you can save and trade in for items would be nice. 1 token- 2 shards or energy 2 tokens- sparrow or ship 3 tokens- boots or gloves 4 tokens- chest or raid weapon 5 tokens- helm So if you have everything you can still exchange tokens for shards or energy. Also, the loot tables should not change from what they are now. This just guarantees you something you need for your time spent in raid.

        • Here's the thing Ascendant Materials are very acceptable rewards in the raid. If you get an armor piece you will need 21+ Ascendant mats to level it up. If you got the chest piece the first week you would have to spend the next couple of raids getting shards to actually level the piece. Your approach is backwards since you will have the shards so you will be able to almost instantly fully upgrade your raid gear once you get the xp into it. Same goes for energy and the weapons. Getting 12-15 shards from the raid is great because this is about a week's worth of shard grinding to get normally. Just dismantling an extra piece of raid gear will only give you 2-3 shards so not quite as good as getting a large amount of shards at once. I don't mind getting the shader because I can put it on my other characters but after 3 it's kind of redundant so point taken here. Same for the ship. All together though I feel the raid loot system is working well. They do not intend you to be fully geared in 1-2 runs. They expect the majority of people to have to take 1-2 months to fully get all the gear they want from raid. Which is just enough time till the DLC's

          • My first raid got me boots and chest raid gear, atheons epilogue, the shader, and my class idem. It was great but now all I get is shards or energies. After 6 more raids, not one peice of raid gear in sight. I think they should make it so you always get one peice of raid gear per raid. Make it random still so you can't get full raid gear in one week running it on three different characters. That would be more fair. Than you could get a full set in 1-2 months depending on how lucky you are.

          • This is the worst drop I have seen in my entire live. We have just done the level 26 raid and no one got any armour. The only one, Atheon, has given a couple of repeated weapons. This is awful. Terribly disgusting. I start thinking bungie has frozen the drop due to the first expansion. I do not enjoy playing this game.

          • I have gotten the hunter cape a bunch also. There is really no excuse for these oversights. The ship shouldn't even be loot. Wtf do I care what my load screen looks like?

              • I share a similar frustration with not getting any more pieces of my raid set in the 3rd week in a row now. I do think that this system needs a change in some way or form, how to change it comes across in a few different possible ideas. In my own opinion here I think that defeating the raid bosses (as currently done in 4 parts) should guarantee [b]all players[/b] a legendary weapon or a raid gear set, not this random players get 'x' bull going on right now, and the chances for raid gear should be significantly higher for players who have <3 pieces of the set. I've had occasions where this ended up being nothing, which can be frustrating. The chests in the raid should offer the ascendant materials as well as a shot at weapons and Exotics, the hard raid should increase these chances, and the chests in normal and hard should be separated to allow for players to obtain them both in one week. The "extra" VoG exclusive items should be an additional reward for completing the entire raid (call it a 5th reward) which is granted after the players complete all 4 parts of the raid (as noted in the weekly lockout page). Those are my thoughts on how the reward system for the Raid could be improved. Any opinions on them?
