It would just be nice to know the why of things.
well stated, and very true. it seems bungie never learned the cardinal rule of change management - always start with the "why". Of course in this case, unfortunately a lot of the "why" behind any of this might just come down to "because people were crying in the forums".

Well, like I said in the OP, as long as we're not being told why, that's all we're left to do; assume. Bungie is known (so I hear) for capturing a lot of metrics of the game play. If that's the case and there are metrics informing the changes, why can't we know that? Why are we being left to assume it's because of whiny people on the forums? We all know there is definitely a mechanism in place to make weapon damage differ between PvE and PvP. So why was this mechanism not used to instigate the necessary changes? Why were the changes necessary and how did that result in the solution being applied uniformly to all modes of game play? What's the harm in telling the community? I see none. I see much more damage in not telling us. And I personally think it's insulting that they not tell us. Either they think we're too dense to understand the technical detail (explain it to us like you would to a 12 year old), too uninformed to really understand why (inform us... use the opportunity to fill in the astronomical gaps this game has), we don't need to know (why are we paying for this?), or they're just too lazy to tell us (why are we paying for this?). Which is it? Again more assuming if we're not spoken to like the paying customers we are.

  • I could not agree more with what you're saying. Unfortunately, I'm also having strong deja-vu of a forum discussion I was in a few years ago for the now-defunct "Backbreaker" football game, where I was calling for the very same transparency you are asking for. Not that either of these games are remotely similar, but I watched as what was initially a highly engaged user community became increasingly disenfranchised with the lack of information - especially the "why". I mean, I literally told their "Deej" exactly what you're saying - explain to us, educate us, inform us... I really hope someone from bungie listens to what you're saying. Great post man.
