EDIT: Glad to see this thread is still alive. Bungie, DeeJ, hope you're reading the thread every now and then. This is your fanbase and a small part of what they hope Destiny will be. Also, we want gorillas.
Anybody have any thoughts on what new environments you'd like to see in the future? Personally I would like a frozen over city caught in a constant snow storm. Have tight city alleys and longs stretches of road, beautiful piles of snow everywhere. Allow us to explore the inside of apartment buildings, maybe have some tight close quarters combat. Have guardians leap rooftop to rooftop. The snow storm could also greatly reduce visibility. Maybe have areas where you can only have a couple feet of visibility so you literally have to stick close to your fireteam as fallen and hive ambush you.
The enemies can be hive and fallen. The fallen can be scaling building walls like in the intro level, adding some verticality to combat. Then there could be some slumbering hive in some buildings. Bust open a door while exploring and the next thing you know you've got thrall pouring out of the door and crashing through windows. Fallen Walkers can be found guarding a city center or park. While fighting walkers you can go into surrounding building trying to find a better vantage point or even have a Titan climb to the rooftop and bullet dive that mofo.
Just some of the ideas I wanted to throw out there. What are yours?
Side Note 1:
Loving all the ideas and input coming from you guys. We've got islands with leviathan raid, deserts, caves, urban areas, tundras, Pluto (let's not forget about lil ol Pluto), the ever so lovely Uranus, underwater areas, forests, an active weather system, Egypt, Europa. Keep it coming guys!
Side Note 2: Woke up this morning to find the topic near the top of trending and full of amazing ideas! Didn't know how many fellow guardians would respond to this and in such a mature manner too, except for the occasional Uranus funny =). Keep these ideas coming guardians I'm loving this little think tank. Thank you.
Side Note 3: All these different environments you guys are coming up with are all wonderfully insane. THIS is the Destiny I would like to see in the future. One moment I'm trudging through a frozen city, next I'm wading through perilous swamps, an hour or two later I find myself carefully making my way down the dark corridor of a Fallen ship with just a few feet of visibility, next I'm hiking up Olympus Mons on my way to take out a Cabal base, ending the day with a peaceful stroll through a lush green forest. THIS is the world I hope to explore and conquer alongside my fellow guardians.
Final Note: This has been such a wonderful thread, reading everyone's insanely awesome ideas. Didn't think this would become such a hit or that you guardians would respond in such a constructive way. Thinking about starting a weekly thing where I'll do something like this every Friday. Think Tank Friday anyone?

I tried walking back through the wall from the very beginning of the game but there's a gate blocking it. I'd love to see what was out there since we had to haul it in the beginning moments.

Yes. Snow! And weather! I want dust storms on mars and snow storms. How long do I have to wait for weather in a game!? I want it so bad! I'd also like to see a flying part of the game since we have cool ships. But VERY much doubt that will or could happen.

I like sunken city idea or pyramids
-
Another moon. Maybe titan and Europa

The immediate area surrounding the city or the city itself. Better yet the city sewers where the greatest champions of humanity can start their legend on a small note....by fighting giant rats. Most RPG MMO thingies have you duking it out with these beasts and I think Destiny is no exception.
-
Grimoire cards talk about the parts of the city abandoned and turned into fortifications. I would love to be able to push out from the tower and reclaim the city piece by piece. 4 times the size of old Russia with lots of places to explore. Please, no blocking volumes within the city, just use the natural walls that enclose the city as the barriers. That way it is obvious where I can't go. It would be perfect for vehicles as well, tons of roads to rush down. Make a nice big loop so I can race my buddies and for heavens sake, make the explore Area 4-6 person fire teams. Hidden chests, ghosts, events, once every 5 hour exclusive weapon drops (sword event). Constant enemy traffic in the air and on ground! Also... Make it a lvl 28 explore zone, nice and tough.

Egypt/Pyramids

Alaska would be dope.
-
I'd like to walk up "that mountain".
-
Some place with fire. Lots of fire. Or how about a place to use the flashlight out ghost has?

City, snow, caves and giant deserts with canyons and caves.
-
Hell yeah every type of climate. Tundras, lush forests, big cities where every building is explorable. Destiny lacks so hard in rich landscapes you can explore without being forced to fight. I wish I could walk around and not have to shoot at a level 8 enemy when I'm 29. It's annoying as FUKK

An arctic area. Would love to see your character sliding on ice.

Edited by Kovathos: 10/12/2014 5:53:51 AMMany locations could be used, forests, mountains, major cities, military bases, farm houses, barns, swamps, parking garages, entire underground facilities, space stations, ships, rural areas. Think of anything in the entire world and there could be environments made interesting enough for it to explore.

Europa.
-
Abandoned ships, patrol reef, Phobos, titan, Europa, Saturn.
-
Bungie should seriously think of this. Awesome idea
-
+1, that sounds awesome!

Too bad you won't get them.

I'd like a space ship crucible map. Open in parts, where if you arent careful you will float off and die, like falling off of a cliff on some current maps.
