5 years they said, 5 years and I'll be done. Well I'm going in ten and I'm starting to think I'll never get out, I've written hundreds of messages to my parents, my brother... my wife. Never have I received a response, lately I've stopped sending these messages all together.
Mars is a lonely little rock, people know there's nothing here but you just won't understand that until you've spent ten years here, of course you can take up a hobby while you're here, but that only helps a little. Puzzles, video games, rover derbies, which are pretty boring by yourself, anything to keep myself sane. But none of it helps, 10 long years and it hasn't helped a bit, the only thing to be thankful for on this red rock spinning it's orbit is that the habitation modules all worked when we got here, so I have food, but the modules weren't meant to go this long without maintenance, most of them barely work anymore...
