Utterly disappointed.. Why are guardians leaving Iron Banner?

Played about 4 or 5 games of Iron Banner yesterday for my first experience and all of them were join in progress games. Why are people leaving? Only scumbags do that. Don't be a scumbag. I got completely owned in the join in progress games but still managed a positive K/D and I didn't leave. Why would you leave your team? You only care about yourselves? That's the one thing that really bothers me about multiplayer games. People will always leave you. Like why the hell would you play PvP in the first place if all you can manage is leaving your team behind? Guardian SCUM. There's no place for the likes of you in the Crucible or Iron Banner! Let alone the Tower! We fight for pride and glory! Guardians like you don't deserve to be called Guardians! Milk drinkers! Leave your mothers breasts! EDIT 1: Last bit was a joke. Relax. A lot of people got butt hurt. EDIT 2: To be clear, this post is not directed to people who get disconnected.

  • I'm surprised that you believe people should care about strangers at all ... I only care about me, my fun with the game and my time. If I don't feel like continuing to play a pvp match, the VERY LAST thing I will think of is a bunch of strangers on my "team" ... This is a very realistic point of view and probably not the most popular. I don't see a bunch of random people joining me for 10 mins as a TEAM so I couldn't care less.

I dislike PvP. I also dislike how hard bungie pushes people into crucible. So after seeing how mad this makes people I may spend an hour or so joining and leaving iron banner matches.

  • 5 points of Ironbanner for a lost would be a nice incentive to stay. Then maybe the horrible team balancing will fix the more than often terrible teams. Seriously my patience to watch me go above and beyond the call of duty to win just to watch my team throw it away is a bit much. It's funny... with Halo I never left. I was bound by honor to finish. With Destiny I couldn't care less. It's like... whatever I'm just here for the loot grind and you people are in the way of it. Maybe if teams balanced better... but it's like 3 or 4 guys are always way more talented on one team while it's me versus them. A game ago I just went 36/0. Why? Because I had a decent team. It's all I ask for... and often never get it. I love a good balanced fight. I had a nail bitter with a 70pt win. That's awesome. I just hate the lopsided conflicts.

    • I was in a pub game against a full stack of 30's (lol Primegaurd). Everyone on my team quit, and I stayed behind, I guess they got mad because they started t-bagging my corpse because I didn't leave, then at the end I got a legendary engram. I still got marks and crucible XP. People need to stop being so butthurt.

    • I joined a match in progress with five other people and we joined a match that was 1-6. Yikes.

    • Because it's littered with SUROS Regime's, a few Vex mythoclast, and various other weapons that make the "Iron Banner" not worth it to play if you keep on getting killed every 5 seconds. Not only that but Bungie has done an ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE job at giving players an incentive to go through the madness that is the "Iron Banner". Its really just a slaughterfest for those who were lucky enough to buy the Regime from Xur or those who have poured in an ungodly amount of hours into the game. At the end of the day, its just a poorly made event with little thought put behind it like the rest of the game.

      • Well people leave for many reason, most of times for exemple i get connection error (like the BEE error). Other when see someone with low level kill you, get angry and leave. And last the price of the Iron Banner isnt so cool to waste time there.

        • Win or lose, once i'm in a game, I'm there till the end (unless my connection or the game server kicks me out) but otherwise, I'll stick with it till it's over, even if we're getting our a$$ wooped...it's a GAME, should be playing it because you enjoy it, not because it's 'work'.

          • A lot of people are leaving if they even smell that they might lose, a shame really as games can be turned around quickly even after a bad first 5 mins.

            • If you look at my last few games you can see me and my team take our wins and our beatings like men. Trust me we are not happy about losing and I'm sorry to anyone that was in my party and had to bear my cursing at them... But I'll take my consolation crucible marks, rep and my legendary engram for having the worst kd in that last particular game, get some sleep, go to work, lick my wounds and try harder today.

I played all night last night and had very few dropouts. We only lost one match by an overwhelming amount and only one person left the match. Who knows - if they hadnt, maybe we could have turned it around. The majority of matches I played ended up being super close, by a hundred points or so. To me there's no point in dropping out. First off I was fireteam leader pretty frequently and I'd never abandon my team unless the house was on fire or a Bungie connection error bounced me. But also, even if you don't get Iron Banner rep, you get Crucible rep and marks and a chance at the RNG loot. One of the guys on my team got a legendary weapon one of the times we lost. Not to mention, even if you lose you get the experience, both for your character weapons and armor and just playing more damn Crucible to get good.

            • Do you love to fight for the team full of -blam!-ing noobs who did't even kill anyone but just run and dies all the game? I don't think so.

            • Like what others say, it's all about managing your time spend and getting those iron banner reps. And end game reward is just useless. Personally I have finished most of the game within the top 1st or 2nd and out of 20+ games, I get like 6 blue items out of it?

            • If your at 4k points and you have 2 members below 750 and your teams down 3k points why keep bothering. Those 2 arent gonna magically start holding their weight. Might as well move on so you can get rep you deserve. Its like when I see 2+ people under level 20 on my team I auto leave since odds are so slim anyways youll win there isnt much need to stay in the game. Yeah you could stay and work on a bounty but you can do that at the next match just as easily

            • I don't leave Iron Banner games anymore. If my team is losing, I just pull through until it's over and I can back out. Yesterday was the worse multiplayer experience I've ever had on Destiny. My team mates for each game were so incompetent that I actually went on a losing streak of about 5 or 6 before I just gave up and went to do the Daily Heroic. I had to change my playstyle completely to compensate for the sheer mass amount of people camping their objective points. Now, you might be saying "Well, that's a part of Control, is protecting your flags." Yes, the objective is to "protect" your flags, not camp them out the entire game and abuse the heavy ammo drops. I couldn't even get close to an objective point in Blind Watch because of people walking around in a wolf pack using shotguns and fusion rifles, or multiple people sniping in the back creating a wall essentially that no one could cross. Yes, it's an effective strategy to win, but it's not how you're meant to play it. The main problem, though, is the fact that Iron Banner is solely Control. That's such a horrible move. Why not put all of the gametypes in it? Some people have different strongsuits, so why not compliment them all by allowing a variety of game modes to be played within Iron Banner? I, personally, can't stand playing team-related games. I hate the incompetence that mostly every person on my team brings. I'd rather go on my usual 20 win-streak in Rumble, getting 23 kills(ish) and 4 deaths(ish) each game, rather having that beautiful score suffer in Control or Clash. I also cannot stand when people walk around together the entire game and almost never break up for anything. It's one of the most annoying parts of team-related game modes. I prefer being alone and having the freedom to slaughter everyone in the game, rather than being limited to the people on the opposing team. So, a person of my skill and preference would love having a FFA version of Iron Banner, whereas people who enjoy team work, and just team-related game modes in general, would love having Clash or Control as an option in the Banner. Just some ideas. *The more you know*

            • I can understand why people leave when you're losing (even though I definitely don't agree with doing it) since you get no IB rep. However, people give up way too easily! I had a game where someone dropped because we were down 2k points and ended up getting our shit together and winning. Control games can actually turn around pretty quick.

            • Don't be disappointed in the players, they're doing what comes entirely natural to most people, properly budgeting their time. The idiots in this situationis again the people at bungie who don't seem to have a single clue about how human brains actually work. People enjoy spending 12 minutes an Iron Banner game for no reward about as much as they enjoyed turning in a dozen legendary engrams for a pile of trash.

            • I think the big thing is. You only get iron banner rep when you win. So if you lose its just like playing crucible. 12 crucible rep with the loss 0 iron banner. So people wanna be on the winnin side to get that rep. Me personally got a epic 6 man team and went like 28-0 for games.

            • I have not yet played one session of Iron Banner. I'm not a big fan of PvP as I usually am only marginally successful in that mode. But from what I can see, there is not much point to it. The weapons and armor are all less than or equivalent to what I already have. Also you get nothing out of it unless you are on the winning team. From my perspective, not worth my time. If I really get the urge to go PvP, I'll just go into the Crucible since there I get some benefits win or lose, plus with leveling I have as much a chance to do well as anyone else.
