Played about 4 or 5 games of Iron Banner yesterday for my first experience and all of them were join in progress games. Why are people leaving? Only scumbags do that. Don't be a scumbag. I got completely owned in the join in progress games but still managed a positive K/D and I didn't leave. Why would you leave your team? You only care about yourselves? That's the one thing that really bothers me about multiplayer games. People will always leave you. Like why the hell would you play PvP in the first place if all you can manage is leaving your team behind? Guardian SCUM. There's no place for the likes of you in the Crucible or Iron Banner! Let alone the Tower! We fight for pride and glory! Guardians like you don't deserve to be called Guardians! Milk drinkers! Leave your mothers breasts!
EDIT 1: Last bit was a joke. Relax. A lot of people got butt hurt.
EDIT 2: To be clear, this post is not directed to people who get disconnected.

Well, you don't get any Iron Banner rep for losing... but the big problem is, it's pretty easy to lose at Control on certain maps. Firebase Delphi is a key example, as the map tends to favor whoever spawns on Zone A; that team has a distinct advantage in terms of terrain if they're going for Zone B. The result is you're basically set up to fail if you're part of the team that spawns on Zone C. Then, there's the Vex Mythoclast. A weapon with power that was only justified by its rarity... except, suddenly it's become a lot more common. I'm beginning to wonder if some people are obtaining this weapon through illegitimate means... hacking, modding, whatever. I'm just saying. you'd think the odds of meeting an opposing team with 3 players using the Vex Mythoclast would be very slim...

Dude... Chill.. Geez', it's only a game.
-
It sucks because I stay for the whole match. Unfortunately with only winning teams getting XP towards the Banner and prizes dolled out sporadically; Bungie has made it as a lose/lose situation. IMO I was psyched for the event, however with it just staying on Control the whole time it becomes redundant. Now personally I like control, but they could have changed the event everyday to the other crucible matches.
-
Why wouldn't I leave? I've just gone double positive in the last 5 games with more than 25 kills each time and lost every single one....and the guy on the other team goes 0.3 is closer to level 3 than I am after 1 awful game than I am after 5 fantastic ones, makes no sense at all. A playlist based on "skill" is never going to work if your not rewarding good players, end of.
-
Lol milk drinkers. ... priceless.

If I'm not playing with my clan, and an Iron Banner game gets to the point where it's in my opinion unwinnable (5k+ point difference with no signs of improving) then I'll quit. In my eyes I'm not letting my team down as they aren't going to win anyway, so why waste my time sticking with a losing team when I can retry my luck with a new team? There is no benefit to sticking it out to a literally losing cause. My desire to use my time constructively and reach Iron Banner Rank 3 outweighs my desire to waste my time for the sake of not being a "scumbag."
-
I completely agree with you. Most people just want to win and they can't stand the emotinal situation, if this is not happening. They're losers, just forget them!
-
Not going to lie I leave any game where I see a VMC.
-
I hope Bungie does something about it. Quitting kills the spirit of teamwork in competition. Mass quitters should be banned from The Iron Banner all together IMO.
-
Because my team keeps beating them so hard it depresses them.
-
If no one is playing to win, I'm not wasting my time. I always get on teams who can't understand the basic rules of control. So sad.
-
Probably because they know there is no rep gain for losing, only winning. At least, from what I've been told.
-
Could be because of shitty server issues. I was disconnected 4 times in one match. I logged in each time and rejoined my friends, played for a minute or 2 then destiny bumped me again.
-
I rather have people leave so others can join in the process, than retarded and useless lvl 6's that are just dead weight.
-
I've left games 4 times, but i had reasons, dinner was ready, my friends wanted to do the vault, nightfall strikes and what not, i had to go help with something
-
You must have missed the memo, its the me me mine mine generation, if theres nothing in it for them they will quit. If the internet was around before you were born then there is a high chance this is you. These kids grew up talking smack online with no reprecussions, and most likely never got into organized sports/activites so social etiquette is lacking as well. So in short they dont care about the game, just whats in it for them.
-
Well one reason is because the iron banner gear is pretty weak sauce haha those people just realize half way through the match
-
I saw a thread that basically said the reason people leave is because they get zero rep for being on the losing team. so they are being sluts. bungie should implement a 1 hour ban from iron banner for every round you quit early. regardless of being on the wining or losing team
-
It's a plague, I hate it when my team mates leave, and feel genuinely bad for the enemy team when they are down three or more people. We need to get Bungie to add a penalty, such as a loot ban or reputation ban for an hour after quitting two games in a row, or something like that.
-
I've left one game and only because I was JIP'd onto a team losing by over 5000 score now I'm the get in there and make a push type but when the game puts me into a match where the match has pretty much been lost already then yeah I'm gunna quit.
-
I kind of gave up on playing Iron Banner. Either my team always leaves, or the entire other team is using Fusion Rifles and it leaves me (the lonely Hunter with a Hand Cannon) all alone. It just isn't fun when it happens.

Edited by Luckdog26: 10/10/2014 2:21:20 AMThe sole reason for so many leavers in Iron Banner issssssssssssss Because you don't get any Iron Banner reputation for a loss. Sorry man, I mean, I haven't left personally, but I probably will next time I start IB again. Just because I don't really have all the free time in the world, I get a few spare hours during the week to play games and chill, and I don't want to waste those hours playing a PVP mode which is giving me no rewards. I just don't have the time to stick around and wait every game out when we are going to lose.
-
Because dc
-
Why lose and not get rep?
-
It's the way the event is set up. They are grinding XP or Rep...when none comes the smart thing to do is leave (I have not played Iron Banner at all because I saw this coming)
-
Probably because they're terrible at Iron Banner because it 'sucks'. I have no problems playing/enjoying Iron Banner and going positive EVERY game.
