Titan Defender Discussion.

I play as a Titan Defender and I find that his bubble shield, to me seems too small. It seems good to get a quick break from the onslaught but I need to exit the shield in order to do damage, and by the time enemies enter, they're are already breathing down my neck. So when you're doing the raid and you deploy it, by the time a minotaur is at your shield he could instant kill you. What do you guys think? Still think it's a great game and will continue to play it over and over again. Maybe I'm just playing the defender wrong. :P Edit: I have beaten the raid twice was. Just interested in how people play.

  • Personally I think that Defenders should be able to throw grenades through their bubble. Not your allies, no gunfire, just grenades. I came to this conclusion after having my bubble surrounded on multiple occasions. In PvE this means you're being constantly bombarded with gunfire and can only survive about a quarter of a second once you step outside to attack. In PvP this means enemies circle around your shield like sharks either waiting for it to drop, or waiting for their super to charge so they can pop the bubble. Allowing the Defender to throw out a grenade would keep enemies honest without being OP; you only get one, after all (Armamentarium notwithstanding) so if you miss or if there are several enemies it isn't going to kill everything. All it would do is give you a little breathing room, since as it is you can't do much unless someone is foolish enough to step into your bubble. Given that this is the only super that doesn't deal damage and particularly in PvP it doesn't really keep you that safe I think this would be fair, but what do you all think?

    • Get St. 14's helmet, it makes a difference when what ever enters goes blind and cant find you to hurt. I haven't tried it out in the raid (Beat it earlier in the week) so I dont know if the Minotaurs or harpies are effected or considered "immune" to the ability.

      • I love the defender bubble and the new exotic helmet I got makes them really versatile! Enemies just enter and can't do jack! And even when they leave they are still blind, people are learning now how to use the bubble popping in and out is how it's used or if you want to tank just drop it in front of a boss and let everyone wail on him/her whilst the boss focuses on you.

      • I've read some other comments and I agree you should use a shotgun when inside. Also, the Helm of Saint 14 is a HUGE help. I use it with defender and it's awesome. There is a perk to it where enemies that enter the shield go blind, giving you the chance to kill them. So far it has worked really well for me.

      • Buy the Helm of Saint-14. They'll enter blinder than Ray Charles and leave deader than Hitler...

      • I do the raid quite a bit, ultimately I almost never use my shield unless it is to protect myself so i can stand on the next tele-port spot, or to ensure my team doesn't die on the final boss right before the team get tele-ported. cause sometime is does that glitchy thing where the relics sheild thing stops working at 1 second before the tele-port.( and no in this case is not cause the supplicants are up). The bubble does have some advantages to other ultimates though. It is the only party buff I know of in the game.(i guess sunsinger kind of has a buff) making our job tank/healer/and raid buffs all in one class. (aka. paladins in most other games) the key to effective use of you bubble is to placemnt. You want it where it does not impead peoples line of fire, but where they can still get to it to get the buff or protect themselves without to much trouble.

      • I don't really think making it bigger is going to help much. But buying the new exotic helm from Xur today or tomorrow will. Blinds enemies that pass through it (like a flashbang grenade on the striker) so if the minotaur decides to chase you, he is going to be out of commission for quite some time. Also, since the shield is curved, you can often stand BEHIND it, and shoot over the sides, letting the shield absorb most of the return fire. Handy if you don't have the version granting the overshield.

        • If you want more room or mobility, you could always swap to the ability giving you a shield every time u pass through it. Pretty much infinite shield if used right. Personally I don't like it (I'm usually sporting a shotgun). But its an alternative.

            • Shotgun or Fusion rifle with it. If in the raid, then make sure they're void damage. Makes it easier. Also, put on the extra shield upgrade when your inside be shield.

            • Titan defender you really only got 2 choices in the raid you can either high up on benefits and go either shield on passing through or increased weapons as well I usually put high recovery speed and only use the bubble to reshield reload or more damage doing a orb build I didn't like it as much nor found it overly useful in the raid and I usually save my nade which is sticky only for minos to take out their shield and let my weapons do the rest Now there is a 3rd build but you need the exotic which is saint and that blinds in which case armor on the inside which is helpful though I usually go weapon damage still but it helps a lot when defending portals and harpies as well help teammates who need to recover their shields As a defender on the final boss you want to be on outside killing harpies, reviving teammates, defending the gates and then use weapon bonus damage to stack to hurt the boss Exotics go for the exotic rocket launchers if you want though pocket infinity makes a great choice and red death

              • Yeah. If it is the raid ur worried about though, survival is more important (for the most part) than damage. And the bubble blinding would only really be useful for PvP. You don't want the enemies that close to your bubble anyway. At least I wouldn't. But I mean you could give it a shot. Maybe throw the bubble down at a spawn instead? Idk.
