Let's rationally debate super

So let's talk supers, I've been hearing a lot of talk that Hunters Supers are OP. The blade dancers damage mitigation could probably be lowered, but the gunslinger is fine. The Titans falcon punch damage mitigation and area of effect should be changed, I don't think I should get hit when I've doubled jumped above him and the bubble shield still protects him even after he's left it. Warlocks nova bomb again pretty much invincible on start up and a massive blast radius, and the sunsinger well I think it's fine I at least have a chance to run. I just believe that people think the hunter class is op because 60% of the community picked hunters therefore you probably die by them a lot therefore making idiots think thier op. People do me a favour and use a hunter and see how good you do it's all perspective.

  • Usually when you're arguing with your friends about the hunter's super is overpowered and then you're friend is like no dude....the titan's super is overpowered, and then a warlock rezzes and beats you down, you're like THIS GAME IS BROKEN. Usually, it's a good indicator that it's actually really balanced. They all have their benefits. As a titan, I will never play Defender in PvP though.. I think the Bubble has a glitch where if a Fist of Havoc happens outside the bubble and I'm in the bubble, it will still kill me. The Bubble can be taken down with two shots from a hunter's golden gun or from a warlock's nova bomb. The Bubble is countered by Bladedancers. They just come inside and destroy me. I would rather get a couple kills from Fist of Havoc than a "oh there's a Defender's bubble. Time to go kill him inside of it! ROFLZZ *teabag* ROFLZZZ!"

    • Played rumble and clash a bit last night. Came out on top most games. Was it because of my arc blade? No. Got killed while in arc blade 3 times. Another 2 or so times I ran around without finding anyone to kill in time before it ran out. The times when I died while in arc blade, 2 were without kills, 1 was with one kill. Please, try to tell me that my "broken" arc blade super is the reason why I'm winning. Please explain to me at great length and in great detail why my super, which I have died while using many times, should be nerfed. And to those who say that the reach on its strikes is too good, I'll tell you a story: I am running at you with arc blade active. You jump in the air and activate your special jump to get away. When I follow you up with my blink I try in vain to slash at you. My attack, when you and I are on equal floor level, homes in on you. It also homes in on you while we're in the air, but with no verticality to the homing, so you see me sail past you over your head, not once, but twice, because now I am panicking because I'm running out of super so I need to hit you as quickly as I can and so I am pounding that melee button but I am kept in the air longer by my slash and by the time I hit the floor my super is ending, confusingly putting my head back into first person view facing away from you because that was the direction my last slash took me in, lining you up for the perfect shot with your gun of choice at my back. That scenario plays out at least twice per play session for me, and I never learn, so please fire away at my exposed back.

      • The people bitching haven't played other classes. Hunters dont just hit a win button and dominate everyone. I've been killed after triggering super and kill people while im on my titan. They are pretty equal

      • Meh, I feel like the classes are all pretty balanced. I do feel like hunter supers are pretty freaking boss, but then I look at the warlock grenades with envy. Hunters imo have the least powerful grenades by a significant margin. Titans have more armor typically depending on how they're spec'd so if I'm fighting one and we're both head shoting consistently he comes out on top thanks to survivability. I blame all the hate on Hunter supers on those damn sexy cloaks. If it weren't for the super sexy cloaks not nearly so many people would have picked them over the other classes and thus you wouldn't get killed by 3 arc blade guys in a row so much. Tldr: Don't just look at supers, look at classes as a whole.

        • Blade dancer can actively kill an entire team and you can do it before they can even remotely stop you Gold gun with most good people is a for sure 3 kills, in 3's its a wipe the whole team Fist of havoc can kill just as many as many as blade dancer with a stroke of luck. The direct counter to blade dancer, used more of as a counter or a panic button. Absolutely needed in any high level 3's play, without Inner most light it suffers some draw backs Bubble shield. Its a momentum stop and that's all, good counter to nova if you are fast enough. Countered completely buy Fist of havoc+ unstoppable Nova bomb is for nothing but AoE mop up cheese kills. Way better offensively until Titans have Inner most light helmet. Then they are about the same in strength. Nova is more aimable still and has AoE so good Sun singer is has really good support perks to it. You can't put a price on how good this skill is in 3's though. 10/10 you should always have a WL with you

            • My opinion is laced by lag. As such a blade dancer is the bane of anyone in Aus. I have repeatedly shotguned bashed, bashed again and then jumped away and shotguned again. Still dead with BD alive and carrying on to take damage from 2-3 others without dieing and running off happy. The damage resistance is too much when the speed it so powerful. The problem being using it without damage resistance would end you up in the middle of a (albeit well organised) team, thus getting hammered. My suggestion would be to give it a 2 second invulnerability with 4-5 second effectivity thus enough to charge a group of 4, take out 2, hit a third and a fast chance on four. If you are good you could eat the whole team. Also it means being surprised by a BD is still just as effective. Ie i leave my seat by 3 inches. It is broken though when a person on a pike sees you coming is fireing the whole time as you approach while backing off. Gets a good 5-7 seconds of high rate of fire on you and it doesn't even 1/4 your shield. Then you one shot it. If you put out that damage then you should be more vulnerable. True a titan can one shot a pike, bit it is a single shot in an area, while they move slow. And i cannot tell you the amount of times I am backed away from while supering and thus missing. The agility combined with defence and damage is too much. Yes a trained person can 3-6 shot with gunslinger, but there is skill involved. More than me choosing when to smash. That and the BD seems so damn cool. I get the alure of crouch camping a flag then popping out. And that planning should pay off (as it also results in other flags having less attention). But having the ability to jump charge 1/2 of the map after players who predicted it (or were warned) while basically invulnerable is broken. Have fun all Doc

              • Everyone saying hunters super is op is delusional... From what I've seen Titan and warlock can activate their super in the middle Of a gun fight and still murk ppl. As a hunter, we literally have to activate our super from around the corner to even have a chance at gettin a kill. When hunters activate their super, we don't attack right away... It's almost impossible to be in the middle of a battle without taking cover to activate our super in order to get a kill. Now I'm not complaining, I've had my fair share of owning and getting owned.. Last night, I could of swore bungie downgraded hunters super because I was getting killed immediately when my super was activated! So I went back to the patch notes just to see, but there was no change. Everyone is equal in this game, it all depends on who your playing and how you play. Stop bitching about the supers and move onto the next topic...

                  Personally no Super is op, far more annoying then others without a doubt. Now the blade dancer is the most annoying because of the speed hunters have and it's normally much harder to kill them during the super. The tracking on the attack is far too good at times because if they are in range they will follow you up, side to side, back, etc. This is followed up by the titan smash. Titan smash loses out to the blade dancer because they normally have to get right up in your face and they don't move around quickly after the animation goes off so Atleast you can get revenge for your dead teammate. Nova bomb would beat titan smash but it's easier to kill a warlock during his animation then titan so he gets third. Sunsingers (me) can ether really go for self res which we can be killed during the animation of getting up or we are just harder to kill instead. The titan bubble, just don't go into the bubble, heck avoid the area and no one will be killed by him. Go do something else. The golden gun hunter Atleast has to have good aim so to me it's the most balanced of the supers. Just a quick rant of what I think of them all.

                  • Im also playing a bladedancer in pvp (and sure im not the best), i wouldn't say its op, i also get stopped often enough by other players. You're at your feet just like the others and also hitable, while, for example, most warlocks attack from the air and also hit several targets at once. Theyre lesser hitable unless your controller sensitivity ist I think it's pretty balanced so far. ...though it feels like the arc blade time has been already shortened....

                  • Golden gun is easily the strongest super in the game PVP wise. However, I'm having trouble thinking of a way to change it so that it isn't nerfed to the ground.

                    • I think there's nothing wrong with them. They are supers for a reason. If you didn't have the ability to take out 3-6 players in a few seconds then why call it super?

                      • It is a bit too powerful. I can absolutely get three kills regularly and four every now and again. What bungie should do is make it that when a hunter gets a kill with Arcblade they have a set number of seconds to get another one or it ends prematurely.
