It's like this. Bungie have been releasing games without the intended plots for as long as there have been plots. The Halo 1 plot had nothing to do with the cortana letters. There was a huge, huge debacle here 10 years ago over Halo 2's plot. From reveals and previews, it was supposed to be the battle of earth. It turned out that there were 2 levels on earth, a bullet sponge final boss and the ending was atrocious. Bungie absolutely disgraced themselves by showing gameplay at e3 that could not possibly run on the hardware. In Halo reach, bungie showed a reveal trailer where Nobel team fly off to the battle of reach already taking place. Remember running around emu farms in the retail release? Absolutely absurd. Bungie abused their position to poison the chalice of the halo story by releasing a game that fundamentally and deliberately wrecked canon. As for the grimoire? H3's real plot was in the terminals. ODST's real plot was in the audio logs. Reaches real plot was in the data pads. Bungie game plots don't go in the games.

  • I see where you are coming from... H3 is my favorite... But all of these games had stories and were fairly diverse in their gameplay... the entire game of destiny isnt even an intro... it is like a teaser to a story. I understand that games change and sometimes you dont get noble team flying strait into battle... but at least we got a story.

  • Hey I'm not defending destiny. Make no mistake, this product was catastrophic. The trash bags at bungie are still carrying on with the same behaviours that caused Alex seropian to quit. They fool around for two and a half years programming undeliverable content and then spend six months cobbling something together to release. They just can't bring their vision to the shipped disk. They never have. Just look at the 1999/2000 concept art for halo 1. They don't have the discipline or focus. They behave like a coder club or experimental software lab. I want Bungie to open their account books and show exactly how the $500m development budget was spent. Item for item. Because there isn't $500m dollars worth of product on the disk. 180 awards for something still in development should have been 180 red flags to the gaming community.

  • Can't agree more... it is just such a shame that they couldn't deliver what they advertised. Really hope to see some major changes to the game. $500 million still baffles me... how? where? huh? derp?... I have seen games with 1/4 the budget bigger, more in depth, and better in every way. I guess we all got fooled by the hype train.

  • Its probably $500M over 14 or 15 years, and a lot of it is advertising.

  • Doesn't matter if it is $500M over 10 years or 1 year... if the game isn't updated fast, activi$ion will drop the franchise. I expect they will be watching the sales of the DLC VERY closely, if they see a huge drop... don't expect this "10 year" hype. It is only a month old and consumers are pissed.

Do you have any actual customer satisfaction data, or are you just saying consumers are pissed because you are? Yes they will be watching the DLC very closely; I've already bought it as I'm sure have lots of people. Until there is actual data, we don't know anything about the future of this game. But I don't think anything they are going to do is going to satisfy the angry playerbase.
