A suggestion that may interest you all.

On every world and moon I wish there to be a monster that is nigh impossible to defeat. A literal world boss for all to fight against. Such a creature would require more than just six players. It would need sixteen! As many Guardians who can participate and fell it with cooperation, strategy, and tactics. The rewards should be grand but the event daunting. I want it to be epic, a fight we could all talk about and pound our chests with swelled pride over it. Edit: provided a link to a constructive topic.

  • I can see it now... A large and hideous boss sits at the bottom of the hellmouth. A small army surrounds him as he gives orders to what could be generals. A lone knight comes running up shouting and pointing at the ridge above. Said boss turns his gaze skyward to see a lone Titan appear on a crest and plant a war banner. Hundreds of guardians appear beside the titan. Thousands of thrall and acolytes charge the guardian frontlines as the Titan signals. Hunters sprint down the slopes eager to sink their arch blades into the oncoming swarm. The Titan signals again as the hunters meet the the hive and the first blood is spilt. A volley of nova bombs appears from behind the ridge and wreak havoc as the find their mark in the center of the hive army. Warlocks then take position with sniper rifles and begin to take out heavier enemies. The air fills with the final screams of dying hive soldiers. The towering boss makes for his weapon. A flare rises from amidst the battle and a battalion of Titan defenders makes for battle grounds. Purple spheres appear everywhere as the boss begins to fire into the fray. The bodies of the hive are launched skyward as his rounds glance of the wards of dawn. As his empty clip begins to leave his gun the Titan commander gives one last signal and joins the remaining guardians in their charge on the enemy forces. He nods at a warlock beside him and another volley of nova bombs strike the boss this time, preventing his next rounds from hitting their mark in the mass of guardians. After the Titan commander and his battalion of strikers clear out the last of the hive army, the guardian army takes up defensive positions and begins to lay siege on the the hive boss. Day turns to night and back into day. Time is lost on the guardians as bullets and explosions rattle the rocks around them. Defenders make regular rounds collecting and distributing reserve ammo. After what seems like an eternity the lifeless body of the hive boss falls to the ground with a deafening crash. The moon has been reclaimed in the name of humanity.

      Technically the system is already in place with Devil Walker and "Kill Target" World events. The overlying problem is variety. There is a lready a lack of unique boss models in this game to begin with. They all look and act like larger versions of regular enemies. The Devil Walker is the single most unique boss model in game and technically he's a mini boss. (All this is Excluding Raid which I haven't done yet)

      • Good idea. I think they may have the right intention with the special event targets. They can be a little rough when by oneself or just another player at times.

      • I really like this idea. I also had a post earlier today about large scale world PvP. They kind of go hand in hand with the idea being a massive battleground in a designated area, be it pvp or pve.

      • During the beta, When I was exploring the Hellmouth I encountered an event in which consisted of escaping the hellmouth. You know those big chains moving? Well when the event started those were gone and a big monster started to chase throughout the hellmouth. It looked like Sardok Eye of Oryx, but this one had robes and it's eyes were glowing purple instead of the regular green. My take on this? That big-ass monster was probably Crota. I failed to escape, when I respawned, I started at the beginning of the map (Were you first land on the moon) I tried to re-encounter the event but it never happened. I was in the Hall of Wisdom when the event started. And the reason I haven't encountered this event again in the *full* game is because it probably got cut, and packed for future DLC.

        • Something like this would be neat, but impossible until Bungie adds in an open world chat, which frankly, I'm still a little skeptical about. I see the need, but I know that some of the players we've drawn into this world and those that think swearing makes them "cool" and should be used as commas. Part of the reason why I stopped playing the Halo 3 multiplayer when I did...not the best player, and got tired of being cussed at by 10 year-olds. Still...world events/world bosses would be nice. Or even just roving big bad enemies that present a small group challenge, or a monkey-wrench it the works for unaware solo players.

          I was thinking of a siege event they could do. Maybe set it in the town instead of the tower. That would be cool, we could have a new area to explore and a giant public event. By giant I mean 16 since that seems to be the max for one group in a single area(if this is wrong let me know). Where we have turrets, using them to just mow down coming swarms. And fallen climbing the walls and having to shoot down or they climb up and it just becomes a fight to catch up. It can last for hours or for a set number of enemies to kill. I would like a timer event myself because I want to see how many kills I could rack up at one time. We could even have air strikes that can be called in during random times, but not too many as that would make it easier. This could be a once a week thing for everyone with degrees of challenge. For max to near max level players there are strike bosses that show up, maybe more than one? For obvious reasons make them somewhat weaker because it takes awhile just to kill one normally. This would be friggen impossible and make a challenge that would be epic. Each week could have a different race, fallen, vex, cabal, maybe the queen? It would be nice to have more than 16 people but it still would be fun getting to have every one blasting away at hordes of enemies. The area could be a little smaller then the tower, with your team guarding a section of the wall instead of the entire thing to make it more believable. Or the reverse could be even more fun. Where you and a squad of 15 race down from the tower to fight through the siege to get in the town and clear out the darkness. Then you could add hostage rescue areas in with general slaughtering. Back up a NPC squad that is over whelmed by surrounding enemies. I think there are other possibilities but my brain has said it is Friday and doesn't want to work. lol Possible rewards depend on level, maybe exotic engrams for actually surviving the entire siege? Edit: slight change since my vision of how the tower and city were was a bit skewed. General concept still holds for the first but the reverse is your group returns to find the city under siege and fight through massive battles to get to a chuck of the wall blown to pieces. Come over the smoking rubble to fight hordes of more monsters to clear out the city and save everyone that has managed to survive for this long. The map could be a little bigger in this instance just to allow for longer play through and this could be a "get this many kills" event since your clearing out instead of stopping an invasion. Or maybe use this as a penalty game if the team cannot beat the siege event?

          • I kind of want a place on each planet where there's non stop hoards of enemies. All high level, all aggressive, and it would require the cooperation of the entire area to just survive. Only high level players can get to this spot and rewards would be a bonus to loot drops. Say an extra 20-30%

          • How about a public event at the Tower. How cool would it be if you where at the bounty board and all of a sudden 10 Fallen drop ships show up with a couple hundred enemies to fight off.

              • There is something like a world boss at least on earth, it's in the basement of the caved in house on the forgotten shore. I was lvl 28 and it's still damn hard to kill. But I don't know about the other planets

              • It is a good idea I wish they would go along the lines of Defiance though, kind of how the Arkfalls work make it a public event. If you don't know about Defiance and Arkfalls, basically a big icon pops up on screen and you literally see players get in their vehicles and race across the map to get there. There can be literally like 50 players fighting one boss and that was the only good thing about that game. I think in Destiny it would make the game shine even more!

              • I like it !! I think what would help is if the classes of guardian had more usable skills for example 1 has more DPS or Healing capabilities or ammo supplying etc .i know this would be hard to do and verging on turning into a battlefield space game but i think it would make our characters more Heroic and you could become a legend !!. Also the bosses have special moves that you kinda go "ooo noo take cover" , use a kind of WOW bosses strat which will create skilled players and stop the day in day out hide and shoot hide and shoot yawn ......I would love to be fighting a boss when all of a sudden it gives signs that its gonna drop a nuke so we all depend on a titan to throw up a shield we can shelter in ,yes it would be hard but when you do drop the boss it would be like HELL YEH....

                Star Wars: The Old Republic and Dragon's Dogma had something exactly like this idea of yours. Only Dragon's Dogma's "world boss", the Ur-Dragon, got stronger after each death and then stopped after like 240-ish deaths (anyone know for sure on that?)... But I support this idea! So long as they get stronger with each defeat and weaken with the weekly reset.

              • They were planning to do this apparently around 5-8 months before this game came out it was announced their would be world breaker a giant being that ate planets and needed all if destiny a players to win. Based on art it would look like a Phoenix or dragon. Since than nothing has been announced.

              • Or make a area in the map/ zone of world/ moon and always have that boss spawn there, wether in a mission or in patrol it will always be there allowing every1 the opportunity to take it on
