Ermmm, seems like a walkthrough for regular except for the bit on the first oracle part. I hear a good technique on atheon is to sit in centre with relic shield active and pummel him, haven't tried the t yet though

It works really well my group kills atheon in 2 portals on hard.

It's good for some people. Your basically trading out DPS and map control for "safe damage". The biggest problem I have with this strategy is the fact that everyone trying to get to the center wastes time from vengeance. Also, there will generally be supplicants waiting for you when you jump off. Oh yeah, and people kill themselves with rockets due to everyone being packed into a tiny bubble. I've seen the strategy work well for others, but our team can knock out atheon in 2 portal trips on normal and around 5 portal trips on hard by not doing this.

But you can fire out of the shield though can't you? Just not the Titan shield

Yes but after the oracles are destroyed the 30 second damage boost kicks in. Getting everyone into the center wastes around 5 to 10 second of that, which is crucial on hard. Also since everyone is clustered it's really easy to hit your buddy with a rocket and kill yourself. Also, the shield super does a lot of damage to the boss. If you have to run the shield, you loose all that DPS.

It works great do it with your group that goes through the gates on normal you should be able to drop him on 3 or 4 rotations if your group is sufficiently geared
