Sooooo guys there hasn't been an engram patch out yet just so you know. It says this week but it didn't happen today fyi. They officially have until next Monday to release it since weeks begin on Tuesdays on Xbox.

There was a patch last week. During that patch they did away with know "loot caves" and changed the drop rate. That's what these people are speaking of. You are right about the cryptarch patch not being live though

Edited by Meefie: 10/1/2014 10:54:13 AMDrop rates haven't been improved yet Edit: the only thing done last week was a hotfix removing the cave farming and a few other things drop rate is included with cryptarch patch coming this week Edit 2: further inspection of the notes doesn't mention drop rate improvement either just always getting what the color of the engram is or better from decrypting.
