I've got a better idea, considering the recent light of 'trolling' from a 'possible' bungie employee, and the fact that I am so bored/annoyed with this game; Shadows of Mordor releases today for me, I preordered it too, like I did with destiny. I think I'll pick it up and shelve this disastrous game. Also, when you guys release destiny 2, I don't think I'll pre order it, and I'll wait at least a week for reviews about it from real players before I spend my hard earned money on a half-assed game again. As it sits now, this game can't be 'fixed' with any amount of DLC or patches that I can imagine. The main reason I purchased this game was for story, lore, and interaction, of which this game has none, all of which, I might add, was semi-advertised via video blog/diary sessions with development teams. This game has done the oldest sales trick in the book of the classic 'bait and switch' intentionally or unintentionally, it was still done and no one can refute that by any amount of back peddling including the people claiming that games get changed during development. none of the mentioned features are in the game I purchased. The only redeeming quality this game has is it looks beautiful, congrats to the art teams. This game won't make it a year or more aside from the die hard crucible players, and I don't believe that will sustain the financial needs for the game to receive updates and DLC. I'm very glad that they made their money back on release because I just don't see this game making it to the decade mark they are projecting without going back to the story board with this and releasing destiny 2 featuring the ideas and items that we were lead to believe would be in this game. This is just my opinion, and can be taken or thrown aside, but I will say it seems more and more of the community are starting to feel this way as well. As more games are released, more of the community will end up walking away; the only reason why a lot of them are still here, I believe, is because of the lack of games available right now, and it will not be that way for much longer. I want to leave with this, and I truly hope all development teams and game manufacturing/production companies see this if nothing else; We, the gaming community, would much rather read/hear we're going to need to wait another week, a month, or even a year, knowing that the game is going to be great, especially a game like this, destiny, that had the chance to revolutionize game creation, than have a game released on time with content cut, and the game stipples of any resemblance of what we were led to believe the game was going to be. That's it, that's all I have. In a few hours I'll go and pick up my new game, I'll put destiny on the shelf along with all my other games. Will I put it back in my console? Maybe a couple more times, but probably not. It'll sit there with titles like Dante's Inferno and WET, that had a good idea, but just didn't leave a lasting impression on me. I still play games that did, Prototype, and it's sequel, Darksiders, Dragon Age, or even the Resistance series. Those games had substance. I mention last gen games as an example of how a game can hold you and pull you in, and make you come back again, Final Fantasy VII is a perfect example, people still play that, even beg for a next gen re-release. Destiny? It's a stale FPS amongst a sea of other FPS, of which all have better stories and better backgrounds than it. I'm sure there will be people with the classic 'go' and 'glad you're gone' and that's fine, I'm glad they enjoy the game, and I hope they're able to enjoy it as the player base dies out as more and more games are released. I'm not being sarcastic, I'm being genuine. A game is suppose to provide fun and entertainment, and if it is providing that for them, I'm glad, as a gamer, I want other gamers to enjoy their games just as much as I enjoy mine, even if that is a different game than what I enjoy. We're all on the same side here, and we shouldn't be fighting amongst ourselves, we should be banding together to prevent things like this from occurring over and over. Just because I don't like puzzle games, doesn't mean I won't get upset and agree with someone that loves them and was given a half-way finished game with promises of more content later, most of which was originally promised within the original game, as paid DLC later. In my opinion, it's just morally wrong, but that's my view, and you all are entitled to your own Psn~Khaosrayne

Agreed, when Destiny 2 comes out, i'll take a look, but i doubt this game is salvagable with DLC alone...especially when it is less than 100mb...GG bungie. And good job activision, maybe you should have left the game as is and you would have gained the 500 mil AND wouldn't have refunds...

  • Activision.. they just need to stick with CoD.. they have been notorious for making bad games / shitty decisions regarding games since atari

  • Amen brother. I personally love what content is here, but this is a shell of a game at best. Half of the "DLC" content was in the beta for crying out loud. If they were feeling rushed and needed to cut content, why not just release the DLC for free? Not all of it, but the content that was originally cut. We're essentially paying $90 for the game that should have been released at launch, and it's absurd. These developers and publishers need to realize that the majority of the gaming community are not kids anymore. We see through there bullshit. I have already stopped playing CoD and refuse to buy anymore. I will gladly do the same with this series if they continue down this path.

  • If anything can be seen as a bright side the future can hold 2 things for this franchise due to the mass dissapointment. We all know bungie lost their balls to activision, so fase one is lost (launch+dlc 1&2). Im assuming that this failure (although entertaining in my mind and i personally enjoy the game still it can be considered a fail) it might give bungie the swing it needs to get activision to let them do it their way. I expect a solid fase 2 of d1 (2-3 more large dlc packs with some minor patches throughout) in my mind they know they will need this to ensure the success of D2. Or they could go the 10 year mmo route which means no D2 but consistant large expansions which could work if they rock fase 2's face off. I still have high hopes but only time will tell. The story doesnt need to just be an addition to the end of the story they can always add in missions to fill the gaps and just admit they screwed up by taking them out. Who knows

  • The problem with this idea, is the amount of DLC that would need to be added to make this game work is insane, not to mention entirely too costly I'd think, the only thing that will 'save' the series/franchise, is a complete overhaul, give us what we expected, what we were told, in a destiny 2. Give us the game we all had such high hopes on, and so many people paid so much money for. We understand things happen, mistakes are made, but don't hide, don't try to cover it up, and don't treat the community as if we're all idiots, because that is what was done here. We were lead to believe one thing, given another, and then not even a word is mentioned of why or how it became so drastically different in the end product. I honestly don't even care about an apology, just provide the product, the one that people stayed late nights away from their families, the one that had writers connecting plots and twists down the road, the one that artists and designers worked and reworked to get the look of the world, the feel of the area just right before taking it to the head for approval. I want the product that hundreds of people spent countless hours away from families and friends so their vision, the one they were so passionate about during development blogs and posts, could be realized and made almost tangible. Give us that, because we supported it, we followed blogs and twitter feeds, news coverage, media sneak peaks and all the other tiny pieces of information that was given to us, we ate it up, and that's what not only we deserve, but also the people that worked on this, they deserve to have it produced, they deserve to have it out there for people to be able to enjoy, to play and be thankful of all that time and effort, put forth by every member of every team that worked on this product. We deserve it, and so do they.

  • I agree. I personally feel if you look at it objectively without taking any of the 2013 vids or hype into consideration the game as it stands, to me, has provided me with 60 bucks worth of entertainment. Do i wish it was more? Yeah you bet. Do i think they were wrong in being so shady about things? Morally yes it was wrong and rude but really its their game so they can attack publicity as they please. I feel for bungie. Im sure activision pressured them into this. It feels like they hit problems in the last 6 months of a 5 year project and instead of letting them put off the release 6 months later im sure activision pressured them into releasing on time with whatever they could and figured dlc will fix it. Which it may or may not. Until then ill toss it in my mix with other games and just play a couple hours per week and bide my time while being hopeful for the future. Same thing i did when burning crusade destroyed wow lol

  • Square Enix managed to overhaul ff14. It's a vastly better (and different) game then it was at release. I agree though. Bungie needs to make a complete 180 with this game for it to even remotely resemble the game that we were shown before launch.

Unless they do something drastic, even the most "hardcore" Crucible players won't stick around. There isn't enough balance or variety for it. Halo had dozens of game modes, custom matches, forge to create maps, seamlessly integrated vehicular combat, the possibility for larger teams, and far better balance and flow, considering power weapons were scattered carefully, allowing for good teams to maintain proper map control, making it far more competitive. Destiny allows for none of this. Literally everyone has power weapons. The only thing you ever fight over is Heavy Ammo, but half the time, I see one, or even both of the Heavy Ammo drops get completely ignored until spawn switches. Vehicles are practically pointless. The game is severely unbalanced in terms of higher-level players having access to weapons with vastly superior stats and modifications that give them an extreme advantage, even with damage and health equalized. From a PvP standpoint alone... Bungie did a far better job as little as 4 years ago with Reach, and as far back as 10 years ago with Halo 2. Luckily, the Crucible is the one thing in this game that could be COMPLETELY fixed with DLC and updates. The story is likely never going to truly change... they're just going to give us more pathetic excuses for mission design and narrative. But the Crucible... the Crucible could become great if they ever bother to put the work into it.

Amen brother Amen!! If Bungie and Activision needed more time because their creative team fell apart then so be it disappoint us mildly with pushing the launch date back and deliver on what this game was supposed to be. Mind you that the ppl working on the game hyped it and put all these delusions of grandeur in our heads to begin with. This game could have been epic but now all we can do is wait until Dec to see if they can get this poor excuse for Destiny back on track. Either way I can't help but feel cheated and feel like I was had by Activision and Bungie. A game that could have held our attention is now easily pushing us towards other games.
