I for one love the idea I do want a map but I don't want the whole screen taken up your idea is a solid one I do hope Bungie considers this approach it will make it a fluid process and still futuristic.

I don't know about a map, but I would like to see the distance to the patrol objective, just like you see when looking for new missions.
