Vanity Slots.
Equip items that have the stats you like in the equipment slots to attain said stats.
Then equip items you like the look of in the vanity slots, which give you no stats, but override the look of your equipped armor.

This is an ideal solution, good call subaqueousReach! Perhaps designed so that you can't go up in rarity tiers in the vanity slots, though (ie, a legendary chest can't be made to look like an exotic chest). Some folks would die inside if everyone could *look* like they had exotics in every slot. I'm not one of them, but it's a concern for some, in a loot-centric game.

Bump I think subaqueousReach has the best idea. Have vanity slots for ur gear so u can change its look.
