Maybe they didn't want 30,000 comments saying '-blam!- you Bungie', 'I want my money back Bungie', 'Make the game how I want it Bungie'...generally that sort of thing

They have filters via the like system or similar and could easily filter out such comments (depending on whether they actually represented the community), also considering they make money by catering to our wants they should really be listening to "make the game how I want it". The Franchise depends on it.

Unfortunately everybody wants different things, they can't cater to everybody's needs. They could change the game for one person only to negatively effect another. No game will ever be perfect as everyone has an opinion to share

But in regards to what players are actually asking for basically amounts to improvements upon what they have in the game (The biggest changes being story and mission structure which should have already been in the game to begin with). Improved loot system, PVP balancing, more content, better story and more rewarding strikes and events which is literally everything they set out to accomplish with destiny. So it is less about changing but more living up to the standards they have set before and deliver the game they promised. We bought into their vision however they simply failed to make it a reality with Destiny.
