Disabling previously selected weapon upgrades

Today I bought my first exotic weapon and I did a fist pump when I saw that it was an auto rifle, the SUROS REGIME. I'd been wanting something with a really good rate of fire, which it had. I immediately got to work on upgrading the weapon. The first upgrade point is slower fire for more damage when aimed. Sounded reasonable enough; I mean, how much slower could it be? Turns out it it was a flabbergastingly slower and more or less turned the autorifle into a glorified scout rifle when aimed. So I thought I'd just turn it off again as precision damage is a big part of bounties and FPS' in general. No go. So now the joy of my first exotic weapon has turned into the frustration of my first exotic weapon. Sure, some people might like it, just as some, like me, might not. You should at least be given the choice, especially since there's no way to make an informed decision until you've already made your choice. This applies to all weapons, of course, but is especially galling when the weapon in question takes a great deal of effort to acquire in the first place.
