If the servers need to come down in a hurry, they need to come down. I'd rather skip an announcement and lose a half hour's work, than endure a full rollback in the case of database corruption.
Server crashes/downs are part of MMO life all the way back to early MUDS. Only a big deal if you let it be.

Edited by WINTER PROPHET: 9/24/2014 7:15:00 AMNo disagreement there. You've got a valid point. In an emergency they gotta do what they gotta do. Which is why I'm talking about "scheduled Maintenance".

I got an announcement for the last scheduled maintenance. It was about ten minutes before the servers came down, and appeared as I transitioned between an open world and the map, on my way back to the Tower. Perhaps you've just been missing them?

Ahhhhhh.... You see why people dont get the notice? Because they aren't at "that menu". They are not "off planet". I'll RE-edit my original post based on our discussion and what you just contributed. During the beta I remember on the last day receiving those warnings, but they were "in orbit". You my friend, just helped very much. Thank you.
