I feel that gamers of this generation have no appreciation for how far games have come. If they didn't experience Atari, NES days they have no clue. There were no updates ie patches. There were no expansions packs. There were no daily, weekly, or monthly challenges. What you bought day one was what you got. Just a bunch of spoiled gamers we have now.

  • I took a coding class over the summer. 72 hours in the class, 480 hours of homework... All to watch a dot move around a screen to pictures of food and "eating" them as the final project. I think I have an appreciation of how hard creating a game like Destiny is.

  • Exactly. I have no qualms with Destiny so far that hinder my desire to pick it up and play it all day. It's fun. really, really fun. And it's pretty, too. The first thing I've done every time I arrive at a new planet is take ten minutes involuntarily staring, mouth agape, at the skybox. I'm grateful for what they've given us, because the game is worth playing, and it doesn't have any flaws that really spoil it for me. People farming at the Hive ship in Skywatch? I might dance in front of their guns for a laugh, because I look down at them, but they aren't hurting my fun, so I'm not going to complain about it. For what it's worth, I think this game is being handled much better than other big titles out there, like GTA V, and the Battlefield franchise. This game was made by Bungie. They've given me measurless enjoyment with their games over the past decade. I don't pay the haters any heed, really. Because, at the end of the day, I have fun playing Destiny. So, when I see all these posts about how, "The game is overhyped, it's incomplete, we were lied to", I ignore them. I'm not about to read these posts and let these losers plant their little hateful seeds in my mind and make me start thinking like them. Destiny isn't even a month old. Halo wasn't built in a day, neither will this. I'd write off most of the complaints against this game as worthless conjecture, at this early stage.

  • Oh I've got plenty of appreciation for how far games have come. I've been there for so many of the innovations to the medium, like the jump to 3D, the introduction of online matchmaking (Bungie's own design, I might add), the new ways to connect with gaming communities, but here the ball has been dropped and is rolling closer and closer to the shitpile. Destiny is popcorn to a buffet of good titles that have been out recently. Just straight up fodder.

  • Men used to live in caves, all that we have accomplished today must make us all spoiled brats under that definition.

  • If the game was just the day one content and nothing else, in the old days, this company would be doomed.

  • Just like they were "doomed" with Halo 1-2? This game has nothing on their old games. Isn't it ironic that the game that will kill this one is a remake of a Bungie game from 2004?

  • Halo remastered will have more players on the multiplayer 2 months after release compared to this, and that's only on one console.

  • Mmm for some reason I want to say I doubt this.

  • You're doubting that a remastered collection of arguably the greatest gaming trilogy of all time will have insane numbers and longevity? Look at how high the pop charts were for Halo 2-3 a full year after release. It was insane, and it will be no different this time around. Balanced and skilled multiplayer with competitive rankings lead to longevity. Just take a look at counter strike, it's still one of the biggest competitive fps out there and it's been around forever.

  • Untrue. Games were not cheap during Atari,Nes days. Get your facts straight. Anyone that games back then knows of your ignorance.

  • I starting gaming on the PS1 with the likes of croc, crash bandicoot, spyro, hogs of war and they were about £20 tho thats not including inflation in you want to get technical so from my perspective the facts are right but even then on the atari you bought a game day 1 an thats it the whole game, things have changed devs can now expand on games after release but on the flip side they can also hold content back

  • Wrong. Donkey Kong was 80, and I say the average game was 40-50. Today that is more then 60.

  • You also never paid over 3 dollars for gas then either and could get a soda in the 90s for 25 cents out of a vending machine. Its called inflation. If we took that into account it wouldn't be unreasonable for them to justify us paying more for the games. Especially now that they have much larger development teams.

  • not at this rate its key that inflation plays apart but so does large dev teams, more production time and adverts but then increased sales lower the price best thing we can do is compare destiny to other games within past 5 years to try to eliminate these variables and the current destiny we bought doesnt stand up in most peoples eyes and bungie expects us to pay more to bring it up to standard...

  • Where have the said they want us to pay more to bring it up to 'standard'? My comparison was prices of video games in the 90s to today. Not this individual game btw.

  • He speaking under the logical assumption that the game now is incomplete therefore "below standard" when u pay more for the xpacs the game would be complete or "up to standards". Therefore you pay full price for half the game now and some more money later for the rest. Personally i enjoy the gameplay so I will not be getting xpacs unless the xpacs influence gameplay somehow.Supposedly is a few new strikes and raids.
