To help out the legendary engrams only have a 1% chance of turning exotic. Most people get them from nightfall, raid, pvp, or exotic bounty. I understand the loot caves idea but running strikes and practicing your skills for the raids and nightfalls is the better way to go I just do the strike playlist mostly and do everything daily all I have yet to get so far is a legendary helmet. And without spending 191 hours for it. Loot caves good to get you to 25 but after that runs are better. Legendary engrams alone only have a 37% of being legendary a 1% of being exotic and a 62% of dropping to blue.

Why the hell are they even called legendary with that shitty percentage?!

It's better then the7% for a legendary from a blue. They tried to make it possible to rank up with work in the game, but want to try and push the point of making legendary and exotic just that. In a good chunk of mmos and looting games like Diablo this is a common practice you don't get the best gear on a few weeks of work they wanted to make the top tier of the players (equipment wise atleast) be the ones who came back daily and weekly and did the raids and weekly strikes for the top gear. I think of engrams as a gambled boost. You can farm it all you want but unless your blessed by rng you won't get an amazing result to fast.
