Do a nightfall. Nearly guaranteed exotic. Farming is actually the least effective way to get exotics. You're doing it wrong.

Last 2 nights I have watched my friend farm the cave on earth, over about 4-5 hrs he has had about 7/8 legendary engrams and from them has got 2 legendary sniper rifles, a legendary shotgun and exotic chest piece. More than we got all week doing strikes/bounties etc.

First Nightfall, my friend gets Light Beyond Nemesis, other guy gets Last Word, I get legendary sniper rifle. Second Nightfall, my friend gets Monte Carlo, I get another legendary. I decide to create a second character and do the nightfall with him, I GOT A -blam!-ING LEGENDARY ENGRAM THAT TURNED OUT TO BE BLUE.

I just got ascendant shards from it. It doesn't guarantee anything, other than you'll be let done should you try and beat the strike. I'm doing the strike today once more, but if I get more shit rewards, I'm done. I can't keep awaiting time in this game trying to get even just a legendary weapon (I don't have one worth mentioning) if it will never come.

I got a legendary engram from nightfall which turned out to be absolute blue rubbish. That was soul-shattering really. Still can't believe it. Good job Bungie.

I beat nightfall and vog and get nothing but shards n energy so that's false

i would have to disagree. All my exotics came from exotic bounties. ive gotten thorn, invective, and bad juju. i also got truth from a engram. i played the nightly and got a bunch of ascendant shard, which are useful, but its not an exotic weapon.

Ya I got bad juju from a bounty. Hard light from nightfall and sun breakers from Xur.
