I'm the OP. Posted this last night; had about 3 responses after an hour. I totally figured this would get buried. Got out of class this morning, and I had 250+ responses and about 20 PMs, lol. I'm blown away by the response I got to this. I'm glad so many of you responded so positively to my little story. I'm also amazed at how few dissenting comments there are. This turned out way better than I imagined it would. I was going to make this be an edit to the OP, but it's too many characters, so I have to just make this a reply. Hopefully people are still able to see this. There are too many of you to respond to you all. I've read all of the comments and responded to all of the PMs I've gotten so far, but I get the feeling I won't be able to respond to everyone in the thread. There are several recurring comments and questions I've seen though, so I figured I'll respond to them all here. [*] I really feel like turning all of those bounties in at once contributed to getting the Exotic bounties. I turned in 4 at once on my Titan, but like I said, I almost clicked past the prompt, so I don't know which one got me the bounty. On the Hunter I turned in 5 at once, but I think I got the Exotic bounty after turning in just the first 3 or 4. I'm Vanguard Rank 1 on the Titan, and I think either 1 or 2 on the Hunter, I don't remember. Hopefully this helps us back into what causes them to trigger. I don't believe that there's an element of randomness to them; I think they are probably deterministic, just complicated. [*] A lot of you seem to think you were the other Titan and/or the Hunter with me during the public event. I unfortunately never caught their names, so I can't confirm. I'm on PS4 though, and this would have probably been around 11pm Pacific time. I think that the Hunter had the Alpha Lupi chest piece, whatever that is called, and was female, if that narrows it down. [*] I've gotten a lot of people asking me to join their clan. I really appreciate all of the offers, and I appreciate the invites without having seen my skill (or lack thereof) in PvP. However, I'm not looking for a clan right now. I'd like to try to establish myself a bit more with my gear and everything before I do that. I'm also planning on starting a Sunsinger Warlock next weekend, so I want to get that character up to the endgame to match my other two characters. That said, my PSN ID is DoctorBerghan (no space) if anybody just wants to play casually. I also don't have a mic, but I might be getting one around the holidays. Thanks again, everybody. I really hope somebody, anybody at Bungie sees this. I know none of you can respond to it. I know how it is with NDAs and not accidentally putting out any unapproved PR. But that said, I've admired and aspired to be one of you for almost 10 years now. I'm in my senior year right now for a computer science degree, specifically real-time interactive simulations (i.e. video games). Bungie is the company that drove me to start and ultimately complete my degree. Late nights doing multivariable calculus at 2 in the morning, I drove myself to finish because of the thought of helping build Destiny. I know how it is to put a ton of time and love into your game project and not being able to defend it when people don't like it. Even if you can't respond, I just want you to know that there are people, a lot of us evidently, who think you did just fine. Don't let the negative comments get to you; let this validate the last 5 years of your life.

 • Because of your post, I'm going to follow you and cheer you on your journey of being a Guardian. I had a similar time last night mowing down thralls and head shotting acolytes

 • I resisted the non story until I read someone say to approach it like you would the Souls games. You have to peice together alot from item descriptions. I LOVE the Souls games. So I figured why not. I love it so far. I keep wanting to go and eat but can't stop the just one more mission parade. I hated Final Fantasy 13 too until I played it months later without the Final Fantasy game hype and frigging loved it.

 • Seems like all the people that aren't liking Destiny just wanted another CoD or Battlefield. Destiny is NOT CoD or BF...you will get your games in a couple of months.

 • I'm glad you have friends liked the game, I in my view, will play 34 years, I'm a player who likes missions done alone ...

 • Gag. Suck up post that makes you feel like you're entitled to a shot at a job at Bungie. I'm sure there are much more qualified people out there than you who don't have to resort to sycophantic love letters in a forum to get developer's attention.

 • oh shut the -blam!- up already. Stop telling people they're not allowed to like what you don't like. This isn't preschool.

 • I like your write-up and I think you have a good point of view. I'm glad you are having fun with Destiny. I'm enjoying the gameplay a lot, doing strikes, missions, etc. I'm old, and suck at PVP, but this is still excellent gameplay. I don't have a problem with MMO mentality and farming, that's what you do. I was raised on MUD's, and am used to having to coordinate raiding on superbosses; back in the day you could lose all of your gear for ever if you died, so the stakes were much higher. But, and it's a big but, the fact that I am enjoying the experience and the gameplay, doesn't take away the fact that the world and the experience and the story were all too empty at launch. It doesn't take away from the fact that we all paid triple-A price for the game, and were given an experience that is perceived, by quite a lot of people, as incomplete. I get that big worlds evolve over time, and I'm looking forward to seeing what that evolution will be with Destiny, but your argument boils down to "I had fun doing the same things over and over again, so the problems do not matter", which I disagree with. Enough said. I still liked your post. Having said that, if you think that you're an unique flower of hard work and nobody else understands those poor engineers, you are not only arrogant to the teeth, but gravely deluded. Some of us have worked hard for more years than you've been in school. After finishing our degrees. For which we worked hard. We know what it is to have long ass work hours, insane deadlines and have a work ethic. We play after we come home from work and deal with life, just like you. Some times we're tired. Some times we prioritize less sleep to play, and so on and so forth... Thinking that a critique of the product is a critique of Bungie's engineers is like blaming the people working in the kitchen for the fact that the restaurant experience lacks on several levels...

 • So you're sucking up because you want a job. I knew there had to be a reason behind this ridiculous thread, now we know what it is.

 • Hey everybody. This thread has gotten about double the number of responses since my last post, and I feel like there's one more thing I'd like to say. I want to be clear that I don't think Destiny is perfect. I don't think it is exactly what was marketed to us (by Activision at least). I also think some of you are being a little harsh to the dissenters, namely OmegaVendetta. If people want to criticize the game, that's fine and I support it. What I don't support is the giant circle jerk, hive mind, think tank, self-fulfilling prophecy cycle that all of these negative posts feed. There are people who are expressing legitimate concerns about the game, but many of the threads on here are just hatred fueled by the other outlandish hatred which was fueled by older hatred. I do not intend this story to be a defense of the game in that it can do no wrong. I do intend this story as an alternative to the negativity. To OmegaVendetta specifically, let me start by saying I have no ill feelings towards you, despite the provocative comparisons you've made to my rhetoric. I understand why you're angry, and you are making a legitimately good point. The worst thing you can tell an artist is that their work is perfect, because it means they will never drive themselves to improve. If they think everything they do is god's gift to mankind, then inevitably they will stop putting in as much effort and it will cease to be good, if it ever was to start with. I understand that you are making your argument so passionately because you want Bungie and Destiny to be good, and you view people like me as standing in the way of that. However, I do not feel like Destiny is perfect and my story was not meant to imply that; you took that completely out of context and are putting words (and other things) in my mouth. The point that I was making is that there is already enough over-the-top hatred on here already, and it is endemic to this forum, as it has been for years. My story was meant to be an alternative to the negativity, not a dismissal of it. As an aside by the way, your continual use of the word "sparkler" I view as more of a term of endearment than as an insult. If a sparkler is someone who chooses to present the positive as an alternative to the unjustified avalanche of negativity, then I'll proudly wear the sparkler label. Again, thanks for all the responses, everybody. This has been a very unexpected and pleasant experience. I'll try to keep reading everything and responding to it. See you all starside.

 • That's funny, I got my most recent exotic bounty after turning in 4 completed bounties as well. Congrats man and keep on playing for the love of the games as intended!
