Edit: Before you read, I'd like to thank everyone for either the positive feedback or the logical and polite counter points. Now that this has become popular it has started an uproar of angry people and supporters of the Loot Cave here on the forums. I'm going to try my best to just put a stop to it.
Many of you hate this loot cave and call it an exploit or cheating, when it really isn't either of those. If it were an exploit or cheating and Bungie felt the need to fix it, they would, it wouldn't be hard for them to fix and this has been going on for awhile. This is honestly just classified as farming, you find enemies, you kill enemies. You are still putting effort in, I will agree that people who do the loot cave while afk is a bit cheeky.
And if it really came down to it and you did not support the loot cave, why would it matter if someone was using this and you didn't agree? It's not harming you in any way. It has little to no effect to you. You just don't agree with it and want everyone to agree with you to have it your way. The cold hard truth is that it's not all about you and your opinions, people have the right to have their own ways to play a game or live life without your interference. If you are going to waste your valuable life sitting in the loot cave or trolling it in some way, that's extremely stupid. Just let them do it and think to yourself that you are better than them for doing your stuff legit, it's totally okay. It gives you a confidence boost and doesn't harm anyone else.
Well, thanks for reading and listening to my rant. Sorry for the length. Don't get me wrong guys, I'm not here to start a shitstorm, if you want to have a meaningful debate about it then talk to me in the comments. If you have something to say that is basically just insults then keep it to yourself, it's the internet, no one cares how big and bad you are in a comments section.

5 RepliesIf you don't spend 30-60 minutes of time taking of the advantage of the cave... you are dumb. Plain and simple. Oh, you just did 2 hours of vanguards and don't want to concentrate much and progress your player still? Go to the cave. People level 20-29 are doing this daily. I go with friends, shoot the sh*t and watched college football at the same time. The people who complain are the ones who never played the MMORPGS: i.e. WoW, Rift, Aion, EQ, FFXIV, etc. This is a simple concept that has existed forever. It isn't a glitch. It is just the best respawn spot... they exist in all games. The criers are the people who have played FPS's(Halo, BF, etc.) or stupid non-open world RPGs. This is what the game is. If you want to be a good player, adapt to the game, don't expect it to adapt to you. Regardless, most of these people are awful and I never want to play with them. I am a lvl 28 Sunsinger Warlock. Cleared all of VOG yesterday... and just FYI. Nothing I wear is from the cave... yes I farmed cryptarch level and dismantled items for ascendant material. But I've never even gotten something I've used from there. So how am I hurting YOU!!?!?!?! Also, PVP is scaled. HOW THE HECK ARE YOU AFFECTED? Also, there is no TRADING SYSTEM. HOW IS THE MARKET GETTING FLOODED BY THIS!?!?!?! OH WAIT IT ISN'T!!!! Damn Noobs

I feel the loot cave is fine on its own. It's a great way to farm matireials with a chance at some better gear. I feel though that if strikes had a better more predictable loot table that helped to push you above 24 then there would be less people who felt the need to farm a cave.

1 ReplyMade it to level 27 before I had heard of the cave. I do all the daily PvE quests each day and run the daily raids. Then, after working on some small rep things, I hit the cave. Why? Because it is a nice wind down and relaxing to hang out and just shoot stuff. I haven't gotten anything from it to speak of, except maybe some Cryptarch rep from opening all my greens, but after completing the story mission a couple times and running all the daily stuff... What is the issue?

Paitence and time user here. At first it wasn't that great but with the stability and recoil upgrades plus hunter stealth and this guns Staley it's godly in pvp

2 Repliesits the Obomba cave, and when you get stuff without working for it, then it holds very little value to you. most of the people who shoot a dark cave for hours on end will most likely quit playing the game in a couple weeks anyways. I should make a game that all you have to do is shoot into the dark and charge people 60$ a copy.

The Cave is the slot machine of destiny. The only effort it takes is inserting time and pulling the lever. Then you just sit there and hope for a payout. There are other more controllable, fun, challenging, and even faster ways to get items. Its certainly the most calm and least intensive way, so some people choose it for that reason. I for one will often use it to cool down from a more intensive piece of heroic content such as the weekly, or helping with exotic bounty challenges and sometimes when I'm distracted by other things such as eating or on the phone. Part of the sad thing is that a lot of people heard about this cave and immediately started doing it because someone told them it was the fastest and easiest way to get good gear and level up. In fact combining this with doing other tasks is much faster on average due to the random chance involved. Play the game your way and don't let anyone, besides maybe the developers, tell your otherwise. Most of all have FUN that is not at the expense of others.

Totally agree, but i gotta say, 99% of the people posting now on the forum will be gone in the next few months. They are here because this is literally the only game to play at this moment. When Assassin's creed and Far cry release, a lot of people will leave this game because they have a new shooter to play. So maybe the people who genuinely like the game here should just ignore the bitching people. Everybody has complaints about something and Bungie is probably listening and fixing them. So just play the game how you like and in a few months a lot of this bitching will have ended.

You level up your gear and skill tree at an unnaturally accelerated rate over other players. 2. You dramatically increase your chances of acquiring Legendary/Exotic gear over players who acquire them naturally. 3. Even with bad pickups you get an obscene amount of Weapon Parts and Glimmer to instantly upgrade gear. In general it's also upsetting when exotic items basically become this common thing. Killing off any aspirations of getting anything remotely unique for yourself in a game that heavily relies on loot for fun factor kinda sorta ruins the fun for a lot of players.

I agree OP. It's not an exploit. It's the way the game was designed. If Bungie had programmed things so that you only got better loot from higher level enemies, but doing this bugged it or otherwise caused the low level enemies to drop high grade loot, then it would be an exploit. As it is, between the RNG system and the fact that Bungie didn't program low level enemies to drop low level loot only, it's perfectly legitimate within the bounds of the system. As for killing them within the cave, so what? Is there such a huge difference between high level players slaughtering them outside in the field and at the cave entrance/interior? Is it "wrong" to run a route around Mars to gather relic iron? No matter what anyone THINKS, interrupting someone from doing something in a product they bought that in no way hurts or otherwise affects your own gameplay experience (aside from your own frustration over perceived injustice) you are a douchebag. The only "advantage" this gives is that they have a SLIGHTLY higher chance of getting legendary loot than doing anything else. I myself have only done it twice, and I've gotten a whole 1 legendary engram from it. And it didn't even turn legendary. But will I get butthurt and stop others from possibly getting something cool? No. I'll be an adult, and go find what works for me. WITHOUT crying over it. If anyone disagrees, well you're more than welcome to your own opinion. But stop trying to take the moral high ground or pretend to be better than anyone else just because you chose to gather your equipment differently. By that logic, you could just as easily say someone who plays Crucible or Strikes to get legendary gear are somehow worse than players who did it the other way.

I have seen a lot of people upset that bosses don't drop loot in strikes. In every strike I played so far, at least one person in the team has got a blue or better engram, so maybe they do drop every time, but are randomly assigned to a specific player? Also, at least one person has got green or better gear on successful completion of a mission. Saves the old days of EQ sitting rolling /100 next to a chest! Seems to me people just think bosses should drop top loot every time.
