Hahaha - you're angry because players are being more efficient than you? Come one now. Who defines how the game is 'supposed' to be played? Is it in the manual? Maybe you're just angry because others are getting ahead of you... Would you be still be complaining if they weren't leveling up?

Bungie/Activision define how the game should be played. The methods of farming players take is not generally of concern until other players consider it unfair, exploitative, or even cheating. To clarify most of the concern is not about farming in general (as this is common in a lot of games) but instead is focused on the method that some resort to in order to farm.

I'm not angry at all. It's just funny that you guys jump to defend it so much that us that are against the cave are very much aware that deep down you feel dirty doing it.

Nope, I have no problem with farming. I "farmed" patrol missions for 4 hours yesterday to rank up my rep, I farmed "strike" missions for vanguard marks. However my character is a lot more well rounded then the people sitting in one spot.

Farming refers to a gaming tactic where a player, or someone hired by a player, performs repetitive actions to gain experience, points or some form of in-game currency. Farming usually involves staying in a game area with a spawn point that generates endless numbers of items or enemies. Such a brilliant definition. Would you be able to name a game that players can farm by staying in one place, shooting at enemies that spawn at the same location, also without moving their character, and by shooting in the exact same spot over and over again? (Not to mention can you name a game where this method of farming is actually far superior to any other method in attaining rewards?)

Are you saying these games have similar farming opportunities where a player doesn't have to move (at any level regardless of armor stats) and can shoot at countless enemies (plural to make sure we understand we are not talking about bosses) and can kill all these enemies by not moving the reticle of their gun for more than correcting the recoil displacement (practically the same exact spot down to in-game inches)? p.s. while also being one of the most effective ways to farm for loot? Sorry I asked so many questions just wanted to clarify.

Why yes in final fantasy all you have to do is stand in one spot and press a repeatedly until max level oh and skyrim to level up your speach skill all you have to do is press a to get unlimited items all you have to do is press a don't tell me that this is the only game like that cause that is bull

I wanted other people to give me examples and yours are a beautiful contribution to the discussion. I won't mention Final Fantasy too much as I have not played many of the games in that series however I pose the question as to whether this is something that is intended by the game developers or not (and whether this method of farming is possibly unfair to other players). In one game specifically, Skyrim, a skill can be maxed out with a similar method. I pose the question to fellow players whether they believe the Speak ability is comparable to the engrams earned by those who exploit spawn boundaries. I then pose the second question as to whether the Speak ability in Skyrim can pose an advantage from one player to another (knowing full well that this is a rhetorical question because Skyrim is not a shared world game nor an online game).

Um... Wade... I'm not sure if anyone has told you yet... but repeatedly doing strikes, to get what you need... um... that IS called farming. So you are just like the people shooting into a cave. Just more mobile.

No, my argument is logical. Just because you don't call what you do "farming", doesn't change the fact that it is indeed farming. You just chose the way that is more fun in YOUR opinion. While the cavemen (yes I'm calling them that from now on) chose the method that they want. Your argument is like saying that because someone won the lotto, then they aren't REAL millionaires, because they didn't work for it like movie stars, athletes, and business tycoons.
