Judging from the anime, there is no clear identity to him. We have never seen him before in the first season. I also think that the second season is a bit lazy because they just now made up this whole attack on the laughing coffin thing. If something important like that actually happened it should've been in the first season, not thrown into the second season as a convenient plot element.
