The story will be expanded upon throughout the 10 years Bungie has promised to Destiny's story.
DLC will be part of it, yes, but if you haven't seen the Events Inbound update, they have a new part of the story coming next week titled "The Queen's Wrath". (It's a free update)
A lot of the story will be free updates.
The only thing we know the DLC will have is new areas and things to do, and their own story to accompany it.
They have given us essentially only the prologue of this massive story to draw us in. The full story will take all 10 years to tell, as Bungie has said countless times.
Patience is the biggest part of Destiny.

It's only been out a week and so many people have problems with it... It's new and innovative. That's probably why. It's different from what they are all used to. Change can be good. That's what I think anyways.

Yeah no one bitches about episodics like the wolf amoung us or thw walking dead. Destiny will unfold the same way.

People keep referring to tv programs to defend the lack of story, but in tv your pilot is usually a large stage setter that is also stand alone and they film quite abit of the season before the first episode airs, so they can give teasers about the next episode. There is almost zero story, and I'm so sick of all the npcs that say I could tell you more but I won't. The only teaser is "we'll call you later" which tells you there will be a later... I feel I spent more time watching bad ads trailers then I did getting story from the game. Not one npc gives you any sort of story which makes you think there is any life here. That said, I love playing the game for the visuals and mechanics, but without some form of community (read communication) in game or little hints and teasers to find in-game (grimore don't count cause they do Jack in game) I (and thousands of others) probably won't be around by the time the next "episodic" is released.

The walking dead is also an episodic game there guy that is unveiled in five parts over a 6 month period.

I got it a Launch and just hit Level 20. The game pisses me off so much because it's so difficult. I love it! I have not had a game piss me off this much since Ninja Gaiden. It's unique

Only difficult part I've had is finding anyone to play it with, since there is so little match making or communication. Also that glitched dead ghost in ras2 that won't spawn :(

Well, I only play the mission on high levels and my guns are awful because the loot system -blam!-s me over. It's hard for me
