Why do legendaries at the faction vendors still cost crucible marks?

I really can't stand playing crucible. I haven't played any kind of competitive fps since COD: Modern Warfare. I'm too competitive by nature, so I get really into it. My blood starts pumping, adrenaline flowing and all that, which is not what I want when I play games anymore. Not to mention my reflexes are nowhere near what they used to be. So the last thing I want is to force myself to get my arse handed to me by some 12 year old who's gonna t-bag me afterwards. It's frustrating beyond belief. There are some quality items I want from one of the factions, but they also require crucible marks to buy. Why don't they take faction marks instead? I've tried to get around this by farming materials and exchanging them, but it's so slow. Is there a better way to get crucible marks other than playing crucible? I wish the gear you could buy with crucible marks was more specific to PVP and the gear you get from vanguard/faction marks was better for PVE. Keep these separate, I can't imagine there are many players that enjoy both equally, but maybe I'm wrong. Ninja edit: I'm not saying crucible is bad at all. This isn't meant to be a criticism of the multiplayer, that's just not my scene anymore

  • If you don't want to do the crucible, just do the gathering trades. Turn in 50 of the gatherables from the patrols (50 of the same thing btw) and you'll get rep and marks.
