So why is it bad to join a faction at lower levels? How does joining a faction affect the others?

Its not bad per say,i mean i joined New Monarchy*Cough RULERS OF THE UNIVERSE Cough*, and im rolling with two armor pieces from them and will get the other 2 once the Crucible resets,i think what the OP was saying was that you will get past lvl24+ much faster if you stay with the Vanguard because you already some reputation and marks from them.
