Thank you for being so complacent with a crippled product, your blatant ass kissing will continue to encourage major developers and publishers to release half-baked games... marketing them as massive, online, team-based multiplayer epics and then giving us something where you can't even communicate with anyone outside of your friends list, you have to party up on forums, loot drops have no rhyme or reason and five relatively small areas comprise 90% of the playing experience. Thank you for being okay with, nay, loving a game with barely any content... but where they're happy to sell you $35-40 worth of DLC that's right around the corner. Thanks for pretending you're somehow above all the players who are just as passionate about this game, and want to suggest the things that HAVE to happen for this franchise to experience the longevity we all wanted it to have.

  • Some of the suggestion he refers to were just plain ignorant. THOSE (the ones he mentioned mentally) are not what impact the game. If anything, they make it worse. Nerfing an already low-damaging skill? Are you mental? Or perhaps you know more about it?

I didn't want to lose this further down in the thread, sorry for the repost. I thought I should add to my reply as it was fairly snide in retrospect. I appreciate all the likes and counter-arguments, and I got a good laugh out of all the childish name calling. I didn't expect the game to be everything to everyone, but there are fundamental things we've grown accustomed to over the last 5 years that we expect in games today. That's what really grinds my gears. In game friends lists and chat just seems like such an obvious requirement to me. There feels like a massive disconnect between what was marketed, developed, and what players actually want - and bungie's lack of responsiveness to those asks (dating back to the alpha) just ratchets up the frustration. I wouldn't be this vocal about my perspective of the shortcomings if I didn't feel all that untapped potential just begging to be let out in the game. Everyone just deals with disappointment differently. Some get mad, some make cynical comments, some sugar coat everything and pretend there is nothing wrong, and some can focus on the good to the point where they can forgive the bad. I'd love to be in that last category... but I'm still in 1 or 2. ;) I hope this game follows the same path to redemption that diablo 3 and final fantasy xiv took, and I suspect enough players can live with the shortcomings until then to keep the darkness at bay. I'll just probably be elsewhere until then.

  • While I don't think this game falls anywhere near the bottom that FFXIV did at launch, I do hope that the future is just as strong as where FFXIV is now. Now that was a comeback. Destiny has not been as bad as FFXIV. I like most people want more, unlike some I am willing to wait for it. The first expansions look to be quite large in scope, however this does not mean those are the only thing coming to Destiny. I suspect that new content will be added between now and expansion 1, with further new content between expansion 1 and expansion 2. We will see. Bungie will get it right, though I am sure that not everyone will be happy with the changes that are to come.

Personally my hopes are along the same lines though I am with the many in that last category you brought up. 90%-ish of the things that raise an eyebrow about the game can be patched in. So hopefully bungie will in time, its only been a couple weeks after all. Worst comes to worst we can always just...put it away and play another game like Shadows of Mordor when it comes out. Then come back later with hopefully most of it added in. But im an optimist so *shrug*.

  • I've been keeping away from info on Shadows of Mordor - keeping my hope in check. It's looking good though? Maybe I can finally catch up on my backlog of other shooters in the meantime. I still have Metro Redux and Wolfenstein sitting there unopened... multiplayer games always seem to bubble to the surface of my backlog.

  • Looks pretty good from the gameplay Ive seen so far. But I ended up doing the same with Warframe. Played it for a long time, walked away for a while, came back and was awed by the additions. I feel like Destiny is going to be somewhat similar for me at least.

I bet it is radically different now. The last major thing I remember being added was the remote play button mapping.

  • Well said. I continue to play, I bought the expansion pass thingy. I truly hope Bungie has seen the ideas that were put out there. I'm only at lvl15. I'm taking my time.

  • Some people think if there isn't a problem in their face, there isnt a problem at all.. All these ignorant people not realizing a good portion of the community can't even access the game, while Bungie continues to offer extremely limited support with their most recent thread "Help us help you" essentially tells the players to figure it out themselves. Thank you for being the Martyr. I fully support you. "But the game has only been out a week""but beta""but let me link you to old threads that dont solve any problems""but help.Bungie" but shut up

  • Thanks for bringing this up. I feel bad for focusing on the game's problems when it IS working properly, and forgetting to call out the fact that a significant number of people haven't been able to play the game. That should obviously be Bungie's focus before any of these other issues with the game's design are addressed. That being said, it doesn't take much to communicate with us and let us know what they're doing on both fronts.

  • Sometimes, but I prefer the multiplayer games where it is easy to meet, group with and talk to other players. Diablo 3 and ffxiv:arr being great examples of those things. Sure, they were junk out of the gate too, but it would have been nice if Bungie had paid attention and learned from all the mistakes those games already made and addressed.

  • I didn't think of this as a story-first game. I thought you might have been expecting a fully immersive story based on your first comment. I expected a MP centered game with story and co-op being complimentary not front and center. My only complaint is lack of chat. I don't get the overall disappointment that some people are experiencing. I think they are feeling a bit too entitled. The games is weak on story, but its not horrible. Sorry to group you in that category.

  • I feel ya. I'm not saying this is a 10 out of 10 game. Its got flaws. Luckily I think most of the flaws can be handled in a patch. We shouldn't have to wait until Destiny 2.

  • I'm pretty sure that you could literally say entitlement about anything. You think you're entitled to play the game just because you bought it. You think you're entitled to a valuable opinion. You probably take it for granted that nobody will murder you today, and feel entitled to keep living. Entitlement isn't a bad thing just because the word usually carries a negative connotation. Wanting a game to be better isn't a bad thing. At worst, it's ethically neutral.

Good to know. But I played ball too (football and baseball). I wasn't small, so I could take care of myself physically. I got picked on because I was the "nail the stuck out"...and some couldn't resist the urge to try to hammer me down. Lots of people tried to do it verbally. The few who tried to do it physically...only tried it once. Didn't win em all...but won enough of them. ...and gave all of 'em a good enough beating that they didn't want a second round.
