I knew at the start of your post that I was going to disagree with you and even after reading the entire post I still disagree. I'm not going to type an essay like I usually do, but this is a game made for people interested in joining a team/clan and playing with those people and anyone else they meet. There have been PLENTY of people I've played with who have sent me a friend request at the end of the Strike or PvP match. Majority of the people asking for ingame chat and proximity chat are acting like adding a friend is the most difficult thing in the world. If you don't want to join a clan and you don't want to reach out to people that you're playing with then you are choosing to play alone. The options are there, you just have to actually MAKE them happen instead of sitting back and expecting everyone to be a social butterfly to you.

  • Spamming fireteam invites, and sending messages saying "weekly?" is a pain in the butt. Lobby filters, prox chat, mute buttons, gathering areas...I could go on and on, but something should be done. It would be especially nice for the causal gamer. I have to say that I'm disappointed in the "social" aspect of the tower.

  • You fail to realize that not everyone you send a friend request to wants to be your friend and you also run the risk of that person being a little kid. Having to add random people to your friendlist without interacting with then is just dumb.

  • Interesting that a game aimed at people interested in joining a team/clan, as you put it, would provide zero tools in game to facilitate formation or management of teams or clans. Interested in joining a clan? Go to the website. Interested in starting a clan? Go to the website. Want to recruit people you played with in-game? Send them to the website. Want to voice chat with people in your clan? Add them to your psn friends list. It's ridiculous to be so complacent with this total absence of functionality. They don't even have the bare bones in place.

  • It is interesting I suppose. Not that they don't have in-game support of clans, but interesting that after the weeks or possibly even months that Bungie spent overhauling their website to make it fully functional for lookup of characters and interaction that people are complaining about coming to this amazing website to get something done. While I generally enjoy the console community more than the PC community it absolutely boggles my mind how lazy you all are and how you refuse to take advantage of the amazing tools given to you. You consider me complacent? I consider you a whining child. Good luck finding a gaming community to join with that mentality, I doubt they'd even want you because most clans want you to go to their....wait for it...WEBSITE and actually apply and communicate. Honestly you people find anything to complain about. It's ridiculous.

  • The website is not part of the game. Not everyone on my friends list even has a PC at home. It's incredibly lazy to expect people who buy your game to leave your game to fully enjoy it.

  • I fundamentally disagree. The PC argument would be very valid if they hadn't gone through the trouble of making mobile apps so literally everyone could access forums and the website. I'm not fully but fairly sure that it's called the companion app because it's meant to be used as a companion to the game. None of the laziness here is coming from Bungie.

  • I think it comes down to myself (and many others) not wanting to leave the game to do things "in the game". Like join a clan or learn about the story. I think it is absolutely lazy on Bungie's part to not put all of their game in the actual game - but on an outside website. Not every single person that plays this game has a smartphone (shocking but true). Not every single person that plays this game has a PC (shocking but true). However - every single person that plays this game has access to the game.

  • The website, forums, app. They should not be needed to play, enjoy, this game. I have never seen anything like this. I think ( know ) many of us are wondering why. This game lacks the in game tools to team up, meet new people, even learn more about the story ( grimoires ). At best it's a lack luster attempt. Why? Did they spend all that money on these outside devices? They can't afford, don't know how to create these tools? I have been playing FF14 ARR. Everything you need is in the game. You don't need an outside device to enjoy it. It came out before Destiny. I bought into the hype that BUNGIE was promoting. " The Tower is the social hub " "alive and changing world" Wow, it's not. I wait to see if they add some of what we have been suggesting. They don't have to change your game. Just add to it. You mentioned websites. Yes, some gaming clans have them. I joined one in FF14. Its a European player base. Their definition of clan includes other games. They get together on many different games. It is not a necessity. It's optional. We can communicate in FF14. All of us. Good hunting!

You've never seen anything like this? Oh, that couldn't be due to the fact that Bungie has been trying their damnest to give you all a unique gaming experience that's different from all of the other games you play all day every day could it? This game doesn't lack the in-game tools for jack, because the companion app was literally CREATED to be a side by side experience with the game. Just as you actively went and joined a gaming group everyone else could have and when it comes down to it the people complaining about the social aspect of the game are people that are too lazy to join a gaming group. Period. There are hundreds possibly even thousands of clans right over in #Clans that are recruiting all day and all night. If you have the time to post in #Destiny complaining then you had the time to post in #Clans and join a gaming group (Not you specifically, I just mean the general player complaining about the social aspect of the game.) I understand to a certain extent what people are saying. Yes, it would be more convenient to SOME for there to be an in-game feature for clans. But for most, especially clans that have already set themselves up and been taking advantage of the amazing website that people keep refusing to use (except to complain about the lack of tools apparently). My argument is simply this: If you don't like the tools that were made and given to you, then don't use them. But do not waste everyone else's time by acting like the tools don't exist. There are ways to suggest things without coming across like a whining brat and a lot of people on b.net don't understand that. Sorry for the wall of text, I'm just trying to get my point across and understood. Happy Hunting bro!

  • Your point seems to be that it's fine that Bungie put all these tools to organize stuff in game only on their website. If not, let me know. My point is that that is a terrible design choice. You are encouraging me to leave your game. Right now I'm at work so it's no big deal, but the last thing I want to do if I'm at home playing Destiny is stop playing Destiny to post on some forum looking for a strike team for a nightfall. I might not actually come back to your game if something else strikes my fancy on the interwebs. And on a technical note - the phone app seems to auto log me out of PSN after a set amount of time (or after a set amount of time of the phone being locked). I don't see any option anywhere to try to log back in - Just a message saying something went wrong with my log in. Not incredibly useful so far.

NP. It's the " outside device " that gets me. All the bells and whistles are not in the game. Give me one? Just a bell, one bell. Ring, ring, ringelie! Let's see what they do. The gameplay is solid, I'm having fun. The potential for this game is amazing.

  • And that's the type of feedback I can respect. I feel like the Devs would be much more likely to listen to the feedback of someone that is actually playing and enjoying the game but would like to point out a few points for improvement than the person getting on forums and trashing the game as a whole because of an aspect that they were under the impression had already been handled. If nothing else I want there to be SOME type of in-game clan feature just to stop some of the whining. I'm also in agreement with majority of the community that we should have some type of proximity chat to make it easier to communicate with people in your area

  • Let's say Im at the tower picking up a bounty and that bounty wants me to do a specific strike mission. Chances are someone else may have pick up the same area bounty. it would be a hell of a lot easier to announce, "hey who else is doing the strike bounty?", instead of going online posting then seeing who responds. that's not being lazy that's just something you shouldn't have to do

  • Agreed. There is nothing "social" about the tower...call it the marketplace.
