I'm the same I don't buy DLC and I don't buy games riddled with it at launch (except this one, damn you hype). I vote with my wallet and wait for a complete version to come out at a reasonable price and let the WHALES pay the silly prices. On Eurogamer if you dare mention wanting value or complain about price your harassed, they go so far as to demand less for more money it's nuts I don't get the crazy rich world that exists last I checked most people are broke or struggling. The odd thing is Games cost less than movies to make but movies cost less than games to buy, ok so more people watch movies so they have volume but then the only thing holding back games on huge volume is price. I also note that budget to make a game is less than the marketing, again this is nuts surely they could cut some costs their. PC games cost the same to make and are cheaper in fact they probably cost more as they need to support crazy hardware configs and have huge piracy risk. This whole it costs loads for the game or the servers need paid for is totally hogwash and they know it, Guildwars 2 created a post to prove cost of servers and connections are a tiny part of the budget and on top of that we PAY for the servers with the PS+/Xbox Live subs people are so dim they can't even see what's happening it's insane. Worst thing I saw was the box actually states it has a epic story on it, yeah if you wait for destiny 2 and import your character maybe. So much of this game is broken and silly decisions made for no reason like match making only for strikes and PVP WTF. Ok adding in match making won't make the game worse for these elite players who cleared it in less than a day no all it does is improve the game for the rest of us. Adding match making to normal misstions would also not lower the quality of the game it would just open up options. This game could be offline I rarely see anyone and when I do we ignore eachother because well they don't have much in the way of communication options it's insane they say it's for our own good... Erm adding randoms from a website to my friends list is no different to match making the only difference is it takes ages and then if they end up been dicks we have to close the game go back to the site and ask for 1 more member so we can do 1 mission that takes 15 minutes to complete... Anger toward Bungie Bollocks is huge almost on par with the hype.

  • An MMO is different than a standard game. They have to continue to pay their programmers because the game is in a constant state of improvement. GW2 is a great example they do a good job with their game but be serious that game isn't as detailed as Destiny. You're completely right the cost of maintaining the hardware is very small compared to the total budget, but it still costs. Also they have to pay the person/people that maintain the hardware. Those people want to make enough to support their lifestyle and buy games of their own. Use your head. Yes the guys at the top want to buy a new yacht, but there's nothing you can do about that. It Is every decent sized company that has those and most of the time they've put in years to get where they are. Wouldn't you feel you deserve that yacht?

  • Guild wars 2 was huge by comparison to Destiny and you had stories for many races. In destiny I only know the Fallen are actually pirates who don't work for the darkness but in fact loot after they destroy places because of reddit. from reddit I'm lead to believe that only the vex work for/with the dark, the hive are seeking power for themselves and no idea about the mars people who just seem to like a good war. This is lacking in depth, I'm ok paying for the expansions I'm even ok if they added other funding methods in but what's not ok is how bare bones the game is at the minute unless your a super elite person who gets to raid which been a single dad with a full time job and been disabled means I'm shit out of luck because all I get is rinse repeat an ever growing sponges health. Thinking of locations and guildwars they added loads of new areas over time but started with a huge chunk of land mass and great boss encounters they scripted the public events for everyone and even managed to make questing almost painless. Destiny has 3 planets and 1 moon with each only having 1 area, the beta was 50% of the land mass and 1/3 for the story (is it really a story). I dunno I bought the Digital Guardian Edition as well and I'm hopeful it's just a start and more area's will open up and new missions added for free and they fix the huge number of problems in the game because it's currently an amazing beta but not a full finished game. Maps in game fix patrols to be less walk miles to a place then back again Bounties need to be less meh, go to old russia where you now kill everything with ease as your level 23 and pimped out. add locations regular like every month or so, guild wars adds a lot of content its the most updated game ever it even has voice acting. lower the grind levels on some things and explain the game better atm you have to figure out what to do - relic iron took me ages to collect 16 never knew what it looked like or where to get it and the only way to do it is farm in a loop it needs more spawns and less of a rotation spawn and more of a random in your path or off the beat track. Destiny has vista's like GW2 but they make you redo them over and over again in patrol mode - I'd rather have that as a collect them as an achievement and use patrol to more meaningful stuff like route played to public events or start battle scenes that you need to break up and dispearse. Destiny has potential but they needed way more time in development, the game feels rushed out for a quick buck. Saying that if they listen to feedback and grow the game with the copmmunity before they all leave in a mood then this has potential to be a huge game that could live longer than we imagined. It all depends on your trust of bungie really. I'm level 23, I'll be looking to get a crack at the raid one day I hope but until then I'm stuck feeling ignored as if choosing to play the game solo means I'm not entitled to additional content I even play the strikes but we have 7 in rotation, it's messed up. PVP is fun but I dunno i can only play that for so long before I'm bored and that's just me it's amazing fun but I'm not a competitive person. I guess I want to see whats over those mountains but atm I hit an invisible wall everywhere I go and any hidden place with high level mobs is a dead end.

  • Have you ever played guild wars!?!? That game had interactive story missions that included choices that matter. I don't think you realise what they have accomplished..........

  • I did in fact play GW2. Which is why I said that's a good example. The group behind that game did great. But it gets old really fast and the world is...lacking. imo of course. I enjoy the backdrop of Destiny much more. They also rely on micro transactions to survive. They don't work for free. The game actually encourages you to spend real money to get things and makes it easy to do so. You have to decide which is worse paying for each installment or micro transactions.

  • Ill agree with that, especially the micro transactions. However, destiny could easily have had an interactive story like gw. As it is, I have no idea who I am, why I'm fighting, who I'm actually fighting against and for, who the leaders are, what happened to me when I died, and why the "darkness" fights itself. I would have expected at least one of those to be answered in the vanilla game. Oh well. Maybe it will get better. I hear the raid is pretty varied and interesting, maybe the rest of the game will follow suite.
