When it comes to Destiny, I think the game is suffering from overhype more than anything. People are complaining that it is like an MMO but not as big, or like a FPS but not a good of a story. That is a glass half empty look. It is like an MMO, but better story and gameplay. It is like an FPS, but much larger and with more to do. The most important thing about Destiny is whether it is fun. Destiny has that going for it in spades.

Edited by LizardWhizard: 9/17/2014 8:42:34 AMSince when do FPS have good stories? CoD? Ha! Maybe BF, but BF is a hell of a game and not just an arena shooter. It's a very well crafted dungeon crawler with an average arena mode that has a class system (which is far more indepth than anything the previous FPS). This game singlehandedly brought me back to playing a shooter on a console. And @OP, I agreee, if anything the media underhyped the game and was too ready to pass of a judgement so that they could forget the title and move onto everything else slated to come out this holiday season ($$). *I overlooked titles like Bioshock because they do not have the multiplayer element,

I don't think that CoD or BF have great quality stories, but they are told in a great way. Very cinematic with huge set pieces. Most of destiny's story is in Dinklage exposition dumps before the level starts. It works fine for me but I can see where some reviews are coming from on that front. Destiny has a great lore that could stand to be shown in a more captivating way.

Very good way of summing it up

People are comparing it to Borderlands/Diablo/WoW, and then bashing it because it isn't Borderlands/Diablo/WoW

I know I was expecting something more like Fallout with characters and locations and exploring, with Halo FPS on top.
