Matchmaking will be added for the simple reason that thousands of players like OP and I will quit the game once we get to the harder raids.
The majority of gamers play solo and don't have the time to arrange a play date with five friends to take on things like Vault of Glass. Most of us have jobs and families to worry about.
No, instead of progressing further in the game and buying DLC, we will just sell our copy and move on unless matchmaking gets added.

Oh please, that's just ignorant. I am level 25 and I have only found a level 23 to play with. We can't do a raid with just the 2 of us. They NEED to add MM to raids, or at least make it easier to contact people who want to do raids.

I agree. Matchmaking NEEDS to be added, otherwise the add-on content is useless for many. Getting 6 people together at the same time for anything, let alone a video game is nearly impossible this day and age. Come on Bungie, get a clue. Our lives don't revolve around this game, but many of us like to play it on out own free time whenever we can.

it took the first group, a pre established clan group who had played multiple other games together, who beat the raid 10 hours and 1605 collective deaths to beat the raid on normal difficulty. You're telling Bungie you have the ability to do it with 5 random people you meet on the spot? And then coordinate multiple days throughout the week to come back and play with those same 5 random people? Not to be an ass but that is just the simple truth of it. You just can't do it with 5 random people you meet as soon as you get into the raid, it requires some sort of pre planning.

Sorry but this doesn't make complete sense. Not that anyone needs a good reason to leave, it's your prerogative. But Bungie has given us plenty to do even if you don't intend on being social. With new content incoming I would think raids being inaccessible is far from a deal breaker. Also keep in mind there are already sites dedicated to MM for raids and what not. Just don't complain if someone leaves in the middle of it or just completely annoy you.

sure ill be social hey fellow guardian......... erm hello???? ohh right you cant hear me ill just invite you to my fireteam while we are in this strike together just let me navigate through all these menus and..... off into orbit you go....... and back down again now that we have wasted 10 mins shall we continue oh wait ill invite the other guy too ill just head to the tower and ask everyone individually 1 at a time if they want to raid...... ok ill go on the pc for 30 mins to go on a search for people to raid with on player made sites for MM...... wait a sec people have gone out of their way to componsate for destinys poor game design and made MM themselves..... and you dont think thats kinda a big sign destiny should have some kind of in game raid support? thats like saying we dont need dentists because people have started pulling their own teeth out and those who dont want to pull their own teeth out are being lazy........

I'm not saying there isn't a flaw. I'm saying there are options if you're desperate to raid. Yes, the social aspect can be much better (exist), but that's a different topic. If you want to raid, you will find a way. The point was, don't see why it would be a deal breaker. Next time don't look for a reason to bash someone's comment and try to understand what they are saying.

the deal breaker here for me is are you willing to spend up to 4hrs of your time on this raid asssuming you will even get that far? "yes" great now search around the tower or go on the pc to search for raid buddies for an unspecified amount of time until you have a team of 6 and hope no one rage quits as these are not strikes if you lose a man they out for good unless you search for a replacement mid raid plus from what ive heard all the gameplay variance has been kept exclusively to the raid........ the barrier to entry should be the content and its difficulty not pointless hoops to jump through because bungie doesnt want to socially support their game much to what you said below I have yet to see some one critize a raid for its content most if not all has be the lack of basic support to entry

So not a lot of people know how to read I see. When I said flaw, I was referring to the social aspect of the game. Not raiding. Get on topic man. I agree, that flaw should be fixed but that's not the topic.

I've been around long enough to understand that people dropping mid raid is part of the risk of public matchmaking, but that's still better than not even being able to play. Ideally, Bungie would rip matchmaking straight from Mass Effect 3. Let players sit in a lobby with a minimum level requirement that the leader can pick. Then let us inspect other players equipment and reputations as they join, and let the lobby kick people by a majority vote.

Agreed man, I'm level 27 with no where to go. Once 2.1 update for d3 comes and no mm, I'll drop this game like it didnt exist. Game has been perfect up until last night, when I entered a 6 man raid on my own and realised I can't even progress from just killing trash.

100% agree I work a 4 on 4off shift. So my week rotates compared to everyone else. Only 2 of my friends have a ps4. I understand team work is needed, so I think bungie should let 2 fire teams of 3 join into a squad of 6. Because let's face it how many of you can arrange 5 buddies to do a 9 hours strike?
