Let's fast forward a few years. Destiny 4 is about to come out. You managed to get your hands on on of the few collectors editions, let's assume that you were lucky and quick enough to get all of the ones before. You worked hard and saved up money for months in anticipation of it being announced. You go to the midnight release for gamestop because you couldn't wait for the next morning. You get home and you open it up with sweaty and shaky hands and what do you know, it's just the standard edition of the first game. Wouldn't you be pissed? Of course you would. If you pay for something you should settle for no less than what you were promised.

You paid for Destiny, yes. Crappy use of an analogy. You didn't 'pay' for the engram's, you just grinded for them. The engram's literally TELL you of the chances, also knowing the chance of getting an exotic < legendary < rare < uncommon(?) It happens. Quit be an entitled crybaby. Its been a week you expect the game to work by handing you exotics and legendaries? No. Sorry. Does not work that way buddy.

Don't get me wrong I don't expect the game to hand me exotics and legendaries by any means but if you buy an exotic engram then there should at least be somewhere around an 80-85 percent chance of it actually being exotic. Also I understand that the engrams tell you what they could be but when I got 8 legendary engrams in 2 or 3 days and not a single legendary item something needs to be fixed. It's gotten to the point where the only reason I get excited about them is because they get my cryptarch rank up faster

Not to antagonize, but even at 85% that's still 15% that it fails. It all comes down to RNG and luck. Shit, the first wild shiny pokemon I ever saw was a god damned vulpix, which it's evolution Ninetails is my fav one. The odds of a pokemon being shiny are like 1/8192. So here we are, me getting this unicorn jumping out of the grass, and low and behold, I have no poke balls to catch it with. I had to just sit there, and take in the fact that no matter what I did, this once in a lifetime rare find(of my favourite one, mind you) could in no way be mine. Wanna talk heartbreak, gimme a shout. Compared to this... Engrams are nothing. P.S. This isn't a post about pokemon, it is simply using it as an explanation/comparison of odds.

Exactly. Legendary engram drops are rare enough. But then to stack on top of that the fact that the engram actually having anything legendary is even more rare, the idea of getting anything legendary is remotely improbable.

You are not promised an exotic though. The engrams clearly state what can be found in them and exotic engrams don't say only exotic gear can be inside.

At least I save my marks and money for things I know I'm going to get. I don't like gambling and it's bad. That's how so many people end if in the poor house in real life and then freak out at bungie cuz nothing is working out for them.

Everyone's pissed because they think they're owed as piece of gear of a certain rarity. They aren't. They are owed one of the different, labeled items set for that engram. Would people be happier if it was just called "random box of stuff" and had a higher but not 100% chance of a legendary or exotic gear piece

The whole idea of the engrams is stupid. Just make the drops rarer but give you what you want. That seems more fair instead of dangling a carrot in front of you the whole day and finding out you're not getting it.
