I really enjoy the PvP in Destiny, and everything was awesome in the lower levels, but now that everyone is getting their skill trees higher, a few abilities are becoming a bit overused and overpowered in their current state; namely the Titan's shoulder charge.
There's no reason this ability should be a one-hit kill in PvP, especially with the buffs already to Titan's melee.
No other class gets an ability (Besides the super buffs of course) that grants a OHKO in close quarters combat, and the fact it has a large instantaneous lunge makes it that much more OP. It would make more sense if the shoulder charge took the place of the melee ability of the Striker; but the fact that it's its own ability and it deals an instant kill makes it that much more imbalanced.
There's been numerous times that a Titan has not even thought about using a weapon, and has instead charged forward and melee'd before I get the chance to hit them a few times with my weapon and melee myself. This completely counteracts any form of skill-based play if one player who chooses a particular class can just sprint forward and get a guaranteed melee kill with a massive lunge, whereas another who chooses a different class cannot. Even with an Arc Blade active, the Titan will still trade kills with the Hunter in a melee battle, and that's quite unbalances seeing as one is a super and one is just a skill tree ability with infinite recharge, as long as you sprint beforehand.
I suggest decreasing the damage so that the one hit kill is no longer possible off a skill-tree based ability, as these should only be possible with a super ability. Possibly even changing this as a replacement for the Storm Fist if the player chooses it could also even out the CQB fights in the Crucible.
EDIT: For everyone commenting who seems to be a Titan and doesn't want their one-hit kill ability nerfed, I'm not trying to JUST make your class weaker, I'm trying to bring to the attention of staff that ONLY one class gets an ability for something like this; so either nerfing it to make everyone equal in CQB, or buffing the Warlock and Hunter for a respective OHK skill should create parity between the classes. At the moment, each class is equal at every range except for the Titan at close range. Therefore, it's imbalanced.

Are..... are you forgeting to pull the trigger
a titan's weakness is bullets whwn he is running
Edited by Knight00: 11/3/2014 6:11:24 AMJust another cry baby who can't seem to DODGE or use a SHOTGUN to the face to prevent getting hit!!!! You need to get better or quit playing!!! Many other Titans try to use that charge against me and I out a stop to it by jumping or like I said a shotgun works very well... And not only that but I've been killed many times trying to use my shoulder charge so just stop crying NERF every time you get killed!!!!!!!! Oh and by the way all Three classes bring Strengths and weaknesses to the game... And the game does balances it's self out with these differences... You want equality go back COD... It all comes down to Skill and gameplay ability...

Hey buddy stop complaining, have you read what you wrote? Please... Do not be a little panzie.
-
I love how many people attack the op with literally no argument at all.

There are 3 distinct classes in destiny. Each has its strengths and weaknesses. The titan is CQB class. Yes he should be realllly good in CQB. If you dont like the sholder charge dont let the titan get close to you. Have map awairness. If you see a titan charging you jump it is that easy. Play your guardian the way its designed to be played. Why can the hunter completely dissapear from your minimap then backstab you? Or blink away when you are trying to shouldercharge them or just shoot you to death when you are trying to sprint for long enough to even be able to shoulder charge? Just get better, dont cry to the devs because someone is better than you. The shoulder charge does not need to be nerfed. The hunter and warlock classes both have their strengths. If you are one of those classes watch some youtube there are players that are rediculous with the hunter and warlock. Watch them play and see what they are doing that you are not. Also remember that PvP is a team sport yes a good player can carry but not against a good team.

My main problem with its one-shot capability is how much skill it takes. You start sprinting? Hey, that means you're liable for a one-shot kill apparently :D. Hunter does have a one-shot kill melee, and a melee that takes most of your health... but the one-shot killed requires a back-stab, and the second one requires a headshot with a knife. Sunsinger also has a one-shot melee, but it should be obvious that that's a super only. So my main problem is why Titan gets a one-shot melee for sprinting, of all things.

Shut up Meg!

Edited by aem: 11/3/2014 7:39:15 AMI think it's actually balanced out. I main a warlock who is currently rolling a Titan. The Titan shoulder is a one hit KO, but their melee on the other hand doesn't have the range nor does it connect as easily. Playing my warlock the melees are quite simple with an addition of a lunge found similarly to that of using Halo's energy sword. Just not so much the extended distance. I can easily swivel myself and connect my melee either way. Titans I think have a smaller window. Which is what I'm having trouble with now.

Here's something, don't let him get to you, shot him in face with shot gun or fusion rifle and be done, or blink strike with backstabbing him, instant kill.
-
No, it dose not need changed, stop complaining.
-
Read the title and stopped... Come on... Be smart and dodge. Don't sit there like a deer in headlights 😐
-
It should do as much damage as a melee attack in pvp but knockback and provide a debuff like stun grenades in call of duty. Decrease move speed and how fast you can look around.
-
Shotgun ruins that. Plus they have no mobility other than that. So no.
-
We have no teleport jump or a grenade that follows people. Plus our special has to be within a couple of feet of people. Stop crying

Sorry, I lied, one more thing. Anyone ever take a moment and think "maybe I'm just not cut out for PvP?" I've only played it as my Hunter, and only because Exotic bounties forced me to do so...and I really wanted the Iron Banner shaders too. I obviously didn't do too bad since I managed to get them all done without putting my controller through my TV (with a little help from Void damage Lockjaw with Shot Package perk before Shotgun-nerf). However, out of all the things I've been repeatedly killed with I've only died from a Shoulder Charge once, probably because it was the only time I'd ever seen someone use it. Again, I didn't play that much but if the Shoulder Charge was really that bad, I think I would have seen a lot more of it during the 5 days I spent playing PvP.
-
Lol that's why I made a titan
-
Why nerf the only good thing titan has? Its no worse than a shotgun and fits them perfectly
-
warlocks get a damn over shield with 1 melee and hunters can go invisible... QQ more PEW PEW
-
Call of duty comes out later tonight, let's see how many people are even playing destiny then.
-
Edited by AdmiralDerpy: 11/3/2014 2:23:23 AMA Titan tried to run at me for a shoulder charge, but I had The Last Word. Wordplay aside, I have only been defeated by shoulder charge when I'm unaware that they're charging me.
-
Titan are a close range melee based class. I see no problem, especially when you consider the difficulty of first dodging the shotty to the face and also timing it correctly. It's fine
-
I don't care if you Meg's destroy pvp with your nerfhammers. But if any part of your pvp nerfdick touches my pve gentitals, I will take great offense.
-
The titan is a Tank char. Highest defense which is why it seems OP, Your hunter is ment for SPEED while your Warlock is for Healing. Tank hit hard, Speed works for DPS while recovery is a mix if channeled correctly
-
No, just no ..
-
Edited by Lunytunes: 11/3/2014 1:39:16 AMJust stfu! Did you row yourself into the forums from your river of tears after you got killed a few times by it? And you're a Hunter? lmao yeah, sftu for ever.

Edited by Absolution: 11/3/2014 1:41:51 AMIt's not as simple to use as you think... if a titan shoulder charges someone, typically they deserve it... it takes 3 seconds of sprinting to make the charge active which means you have to measure timing and distance.. second, if you make any move outside of jump it peters out, meaning if you commit to a shoulder charge you leave yourself open to fire... shoulder charge always loses out to shotgun unless from behind... as long as you don't let up on the fire, you can normally win out on a charging titan.. Edit: the charge doesn't last long either... you have 5 seconds of charge time before it dissipates and you have to resprint if you want to try again...
