I have a home network and can't complete the second mission in this damn game. I might like the game if it worked, but as it stands it is the worst game I've ever played and I hate it.

Your internet connection is horrible, you should be complaining to your ISP! Not a game developer, when clearly your issue is connection ..
-
My Internet connection is definitely NOT the problem. I'm not losing my connection to Xbox live AND I ran both speed and ping tests and the results are just fine, so I am complaining to the right people. Get your head out of your ass before you talk.
-
That's interesting because literally every person says they get kicked off the network at the same time the error occurs.. Hmm. Ping only tests the now and obviously if that is a time that you aren't having an issue, everything will look fine.. There's more sophisticated tools to monitor your network. You need to monitor and capture your networks transmissions over a decent period of time to legitimately say it's not an issue. Not just a couple pings. I don't understand when people are having internet connection protocol errors, they choose to hit up a game developer instead of the provider of their internet. There is a resolution you're just bringing it to the wrong person. You pay money for internet, have them tweak it brother. Dude honestly it could be as simple as a Ethernet cord bent the wrong way, you wouldn't notice it but the data streaming down the line will. There is tons of issues that can occur well before it gets to the game side.. Instead of trying to engineer our network, let's complain to a game developer and expect them to fix our IP issues to eliminate data packet loss. Contact your ISP.

I worked in the it field and had been running constant ping tests for the first few days after launch. Then it stayed working fine, and there was no change to my Internet quality, therefore it was the game not my connection.
-
Lol you think you're the only one who works in the it field? By how you said it, it sounds like you don't anymore. Ping test is one of the most basic network commands and it doesn't monitor and explain all of it.. You're basing your opinion off a launch day experience, when not only the server would be flooded with people, but internet service providers as well.. You can't blame one without the other. People just need to be able to decipher between game bugs and network errors. Of course the servers are going to need tweaks, but you have to understand this was the first developer with the confidence of releasing a game of this magnitude the first year.. If you're in the IT field then you know the current issue is, we're extending the life of silicon, to the point it requires an abundant amount of resources to keep it from melting into the floor.. They spend multi-millions and we spend how much? Be serious. Higher technology requires you to be on a higher IEEE standard, capable of minimal interference.

No I am aware that are a ton of people in the IT field, which is why when the economy went to shit, I became a teacher. To prove that I know who to blame, today I kept getting booted again so I checked my logs and see that NOW I have an Internet problem, but it was fine at launch.
-
Same boat, I get about 10 minutes of entertainment before it craps out.....
-
It'd be great to get some feedback from bungie on what the issue is. It sounds like I'm gunna spend this weekend learning how to do port forwarding to get this game to even work right. It's going to be a huge inconvenience for something that may or may not even work.
-
Have fun, I get centipede to the point I can no longer log in. Come on bungie, its a server issue on your end, not hundreds of thousands of players across all consoles having issues with their routers, especially when we can play other games just fine.
-
Other games don't require the massive data packet rates like this game does.. This game is showing just how bad a lot of the ISP infrastructure is. Complain to your ISP for throttling your bandwidth
-
Good luck with that. I have my xb1 on a DMZ and I'm still getting centipede and bee.
-
Tried port forwarding and no luck. Not sure if I did it wrong or what but I'm shit outta luck I guess until bungie puts out a proper patch instead of telling us all its our fault. I have yet to decide if I'll keep the game long enough for them to do that.
-
I was actually able to stay connected for a few hours last night.
-
I'll let you know how it goes. I'm hoping for the best but expecting the worst. If it does work by some stroke of luck I'll make a how to guide or something.
-
I've had the same problem. Ive actually been able to play for a while but the past couple days alli get is centipede. I've looked around the forums and the bungie help site and apparently destiny has the same online protocol as pirated movies, from what I've read. So it gets targeted by firewalls. I've also read there should be a fix on Monday so here's hoping

If you're not at university I've found a solution. If your console is to far away to use Ethernet you'll have to buy an Ethernet by power box. Installed mine today and have had a steady connection ever since.
