There is so much buzz going around for this game it's spinning everyone's heads. Negative, positive everyone's got their opinion.
I bought this game with a white PS4 console for $549 AUD. With a standard console costing $500, this means I paid a total of $49.00
If I sit and think about the amount of times I've wasted money on games, soft drinks, movies I hated or girls that I never saw again, $49 is not a huge expendature (unless you're a 14 year old boy who has their mum only buy them a few games a year).
So what has such a small expenditure bought me? A great many hours of entertainment.
I was pretty much the engine of the hype train leading up to destinies release and as soon as I clocked the main story missions and began feeling as if the game had less to offer than I thought.
I shaved my head, tattooed an anti-bungie symbol of hatred on my forehead and marched towards bungie.net's forums to express my disappointment in the game. So if that was my opinion, why am I writing this? Because you and I sir, are a bunch of whining little self-entitled bitches that take everything (that people have worked their asses off and put passion into) we're given, rip it apart and ridicule it until it's no longer recognizable and then tell it's our opinion and it's all justified.
Video gamers are amongst the worst community to try and please in the world. The developers stay too close to the safety of repetition and we slay them under the mighty banner of comparison and if they try and do something radical and it's not perfect for every single persons set of expectations - all of a sudden they're the devils big hairy cock and need to be vanquished.
The fact of the matter is, Destiny is a great game in the sense that it provides entertainment for the money we pay for it. I spent $49 and have spent 20 or so hours on it already, and could easily spend hundreds more with the updates, improved events and added content in the future. If I feel really enthused I might even spend the $40 on the expansions and even then I've still spend less than the $99 price tag in Australia's EB Games.
Step back, look at what you take for granted and enjoy it for what it is, not what you want it to be. If not, go spend your $100 on COD or Battlefield and ask them what they're trying to do to path the future for gaming. And have a good think about how much value those games provide too.
EDIT: I realize now that this last paragraph was a pretty poiniont but at the same time not entirely constructive. It's never enough to shed light on a fault and walk away, as a critic we should always include constructive feedback along side any negative opinions.
It works as a double pronged dildo; on one end it penetrates your dick like appearance by giving your words meaning and hanging on the othet end is something for the artist to contemplate and possibility utilize

Edited by BiscuitNick: 9/12/2014 8:28:51 PMDestiny didn't deliver and it is just your average recycled FPS but I guess I better respect the developer anyways. Seriously, what's with all you Bungie fanboys throwing the word entitled around? Do you even know what it means? I spent $70 on this game so I am entitled to my opinion you moron. The game is a terrible cliche-filled train wreck with nothing new to bring to the table. It's dreadfully boring and it has no good story development at all. The multiplayer is still filled with bugs that people pointed out in the beta, but of course Bungie only had a beta to get more pre-orders. The game is nothing special and it's justa generic FPS Bungie made to get easy cash. They advertised the DLC before the game came out dammit. I feel like I could watch my feces float in my toilet and find more enjoyment there. On top of it all there's also server issues even though the beta was supposed to ensure there wouldn't be any.

The way I see it, destiny is not a great game in a single genre. Its a good game with multiple genres combined. That plus the fun factor, and its a good game. Think about it this way, would you rather be a master of a single skill or good at many skills? Destiny is good at many things.

Those rage paragraphs were hilarious dude
-
Or it's the fact that Bungie blew things way out if proportion and hyped the the shut out of their game so people are disappointed.
-
I thought it was going to be a funny joke. Dissapointed.

Sucks to be you!

Agreed. As a complete NooB and very poor at these type of games, it's offered me a sense that I can get better. To all who are Lvl 20+ hunting low levellers for kicks...you are destroying the community of gamers who will never get better if you don't at least let them respawn. This game is enjoyable throughout if not for that. Thanks for your time.

I agree, however people like to talk about the game, and that's fine, I think. My only complaint (not really about the game itself) is that Bungie said all these things would be happening, and they don't/haven't (e.g. always find a piece of gear you'll be interested in, my only legendary was a hunter -I'm a Titan-, things to do in the tower: football, weird floaty purple ball, shopping, tree). I like to say that to see if I'm the only one thinking this :P

What about me? I paid 160$ for a Collectors Edition that won't let me use my Special Items, and when I received it.. the Box that holds all the stuff is made out of shoddy cardboard and is smashed.. So I should be expected to just eat the 160$ and smile? Or what?

What a weird post... Lol I think you are over reacting. The part where u say the video game community is the hardest community to please is a bit extreme. And the double pronged dildo part just makes this post a joke. Just calm down and play the damn game. Like wow lol

This game is fun, except when just ridiculously outmatched in the crucible. Being somewhat outmatched is okay, but it can get REALLY out of hand. No game is perfect. Wish they would fix that though.

This post has so much muchness! I'm back here in the background thinking it and you are out there preaching it. Hats off to you good sir! You have the superc00kie seal of approval
-
Yeah the development team thought it would be cool if the game turned out GHEY! I think there main audience happens to be San Francisco why else would the main logo be a maxipad. Jus saying

This is so well written

Anyone who feels let down due to over hype on the game, needs a life. It is a game... not life and death If you like it, play it If you don't, don't play it If the biggest thing people have to worry about is how well they do in a game; how good the game is compared to their expectations etc... No idea what to say about that other than find something real to worry about.

it's funny because CoD offers more content in regards to story than Destiny
-
I take it you did not approve of those who felt hard done by BiowEAr with ME3?
-
You're specifically spot on with games geared towards the MMO community, which I feel like this game is (even tho Bungie tries to pretend it isn't.) I love MMOs and have played them for ages, but their fans are the f*cking worst. They don't understand that moving a game from a small beta testing stage to a live stage where like a million people are playing the game, theres gonna be some bugs and problems that didn't manifest themselves in beta. MMO fans seem to not get that, OR they'd just rather not accept it. The MMO community honestly is responsible for ruining so many games because they aren't perfect on day one and the communities on Reddit, Forums, etc. turn so toxic so quickly.

well duh
-
True, I don't know about the dildo talk... But the rest was pretty on point.
-
I like the way you think sir but sadly there are far too few people who take these things for what they are a game your ment to enjoy it and have fun. All to often do people accuse tenns and children of being overtly harsh and critical of games and devs but at the same time adults maybe far worse at this as adults we should set hier standards for behavior on line. Also it may seem a little over stated but I'll say it again "IF YOU ARE THAT UNHAPPY WITH A GAME INSTEAD OF WHINNING AND BEING ULGUAR TAKE IT OUT AND TRADE IT IN" just because you bought the game dosent entitle you tobe disruptive vulgar hateful or disrespectful to the community or tne developers.

Oh god I'm in the wrong side of the forum, better head back to fanboy side before an airhead makes racial slurs at me
