I'd really like to know why people are so upset about trading being absent from the game. If we were able to trade then Bungie would have to implement some type of binding or weird looting system to ensure that people aren't farming exotics to sell or give away. Then you'd all complain about that!? What's so wrong with earning your own badass rewards? Think about it. If we were able to give gear away, certain fireteams or clans would only need a few key members tasked with gearing up the rest of the members and then we'd have a ton of people who had awesome weapons/armor that most of them probably didn't even earn themselves. AND THEN YOU WOULD ALL CRY. The last thing we need are people camping out in the Tower trying to sell gear for glimmer or, God forbid, real money. Ugh

I like the idea of trading. But I'm happier not to have it in the game for one reason: drop rates. There's a difference between balancing drop rates for the entire population of Destiny and for one person. If it's balanced for one person and you want them to be able to experience the awesome gear then you increase drop rates so they'll see interesting stuff. This benefits the middle of the road casual player who doesn't want to spend real money on auction house stuff because they actually have a chance at finding something themselves if they work for it. If drop rates were balanced globally for trade then all drop rates would probably be drastically reduced to preserve rarity and perceived value. The only way I would see weapons like that is if I were extremely lucky or decided to just pay for it. Neither is a particularly fun option for me. I want to believe that there's a way to include some form of trading but I honestly have no idea how it would work in any justifiable way.
