Your first point is the best. Run with it.
How will you chose what players to pick out of your clan to play with? You can't play with all of them.
I keep saying " it was Beta", I hope we see more players in the world.

From a beta perspective, if they were intending to get more than 16 people anywhere in the world they would've probably tried it with the beta to stress test their servers. So I dont think that's something they are looking into the short term, imo.
